About me
Peter James Kiernan is a student of Columbia University’s School of General Studies and founder of the Ivy League Veterans Council. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps the day after his eighteenth birthday. During his six years of active duty service, Peter was reviewed through the arduous and highly selective Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC). Upon his selection, he became the youngest operator and Marine Raider in the history of MARSOC. His accomplishments and professional duties included becoming a Scout Sniper, fluent linguist and free-fall qualified. Peter deployed to Afghanistan where he earned the Combat Action Ribbon, the Navy Commendation Medal, and Meritorious Commendation. At Columbia University in addition to remaining on the Dean’s list, Peter is a division I varsity athlete and was an elected leader of the student veteran organization. He currently focuses his efforts with the Ivy League Veterans Council which aims to get a proportional number of veterans into elite schools.
