Self awareness is key. I have my own CPA firm. It is not lost on me that my fees for the same or better work are often lower than my male competitors / counterparts...this is directly related to my decision making on what to bill my client...unfortunately I can't lay blame here except maybe on "society" that made me believe that my work is really worth less at some point...Regardless, when I refer clients to financial advisors, lawyers or other professionals I constantly aim to direct them to the female led firms...it is not as easy as it sounds!!! I cannot tell you how many times I've perused the "About Us" of some of the firms I would like to do business with and can't find one female face as a partner....*sigh*...I continue to search. Keep up the good fight. Great article!

This is so true. I travel for work quite a bit and love that first night alone in the hotel. Also, as a mom with a 15 year old girl, I've always argued with my girlfriends about the whole movement about inclusion (the need to have a friend come with you to try a new activity or the cringe at the thought of going to a movie alone *gasp!*). I'm not pro-exclusion but I am pro-independence. I want my daughter (and my son) to do things on their own. To be okay alone. I think it is important for people to love themselves more than ever these days! To be comfortable with themselves. Because if you love yourself, then no one boy, girl or group can convince you that you aren't worthy. And that's powerful.

Ayn Rand - agreed. Very few people "get" my love for The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. Great interview!
