Abigail Steinberg has led end-to-end projects and product development in sustainability, fintech, education, and e-commerce, with a particular dedication to promoting access to opportunity for users in emerging markets.
Currently, she is remotely managing and co-developing a fintech savings product in Rwanda funded by the Gates Foundation and managed by IDEO, a design consulting firm. In addition, she is supporting curriculum development and leading design thinking workshops for Routes to Resilience.
Before working with the IDEO team, she was hired to launch and manage a publishing company inside of a $100M ecommerce company, Veya. She successfully launched Lemur Press, signing over 120+ authors, publishing 380+ titles, building supply chains across the United States and abroad, partnerships across 4 countries, and increasing the team by 5X.
Prior to Lemur, she completed a fellowship at Wharton and a Masters of Science at University of Pennsylvania focused on management, finance, and organizational dynamics. Previously, she served as a Project Manager at global consultancy firm, BFA Global, where she headed the multi-year, multi-million dollar Mastercard Foundation FIBR program to invest and promote financial inclusion across East and West Africa. The FIBR program, focused on deepening and accelerating financial inclusion through linkages across small businesses, their customers, and employees. At BFA, she worked in multiple sectors, including finance, renewable energy, water, and micro, small, and medium enterprises.
Prior to BFA, she developed and executed global online communities to build social impact and highlight innovations in addressing urban poverty. While living in India, she worked on building a financial tech startup focused on digitizing products for lending clubs. As a Princeton Fellow, she directed public health project implementations across Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. She was a strategist at Digital Divide Data (DDD) working across Kenya, Cambodia, and Laos. Prior to DDD, she was a Partnerships Fellow for Purpose Global, which builds global movements for social good. In the UK, she interned in Parliament, and drafted policies, briefings, and met with constituents.
She has managed projects for the World Bank, IFC, and UN and has spoken about her work at World Bank, IFC, UN, Global Off Grid Lighting Association (GOGLA), Columbia University, Fordham University, and at World Water Week. In addition to her MS from UPenn, she graduated with a BA magna cum laude and an MA in Global Studies, both from Brandeis University.
