About me
An accomplished violinist, Sarah Hadley Yakir has combined ongoing training and regular performances from a early age. At the age of 6, Sarah Yakir earned one of 15 spots at the Special Music School in New York City, having distinguished herself from thousands of other musicians, and at age 9, she was invited to train at the Kiev Summer Music Academy.
From 2004 to 2013, Sarah Hadley Yakir studied with Zakhar Bron at the Musikhochschule for "gifted young students" in Cologne. The program involved traveling and performing in countries across Europe. Her performances during this period included multiple appearances at the International Violin Festival of Oettingen, Zakhar Bron International Master Class , Concerts in Portugal, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Italy and International Musical Encounters in Belgium. She also continued solo performances with orchestras in North America, including the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra in 2007, winning a national first prize in the Canadian Music Competition in 2010, the Brooklyn Conservatory Orchestra in 2013, and the Mount Holyoke Symphony Orchestra tour in 2014.
Most recently, she earned a bachelor of music from the New England Conservatory and is now in a Masters program there studying under Donald Weilerstein and Soovin Kim. Sarah continues to perform with concerts in the Boston area and solo appearances with the Pioneer Valley Symphony. She is a founding member and first violin of the recently formed the Vicia Quartet that perform throughout the Boston area and Western Massachusetts.
