Head of Talent Acquisition

A member of the Financial Times’ Global Human Resources team, the Head of Talent Acquisition will be responsible for developing a comprehensive strategy to manage all aspects of our Talent Acquisition agenda. We are looking for someone who will create our talent acquisition specialism from scratch, someone who is capable of working with our HR Business Partners and business leaders to define and implement their talent acquisition strategy and someone who will provide a first class recruitment service. This role reports into the Head of Global Learning, Talent & Inclusion.


  • Create, resource and lead a talent acquisition specialism

  • Define, create and own FT's Talent Acquisition strategy to work with other key strategies such as Diversity and Inclusion, talent development

  • Provide an in-house, end to end recruitment service to the business for all permanent hires

  • Work with the HR Business Partners and business leaders to build out their individual strategies using data to help inform this strategy (this includes minimal use of third party agencies)

  • Work in partnership with the FTs talent and performance partner to build an internal and external pipeline of talent to ensure the business gets the right person at the right time for optimal performance

  • Develop innovative recruitment strategies for bringing in top talent 

  • Design and implement creative solutions for filling vacancies

  • Coach and guide managers on hiring best practices

  • Establish key success metrics which demonstrate

  • Make recommendations about new hiring opportunities, operational efficiencies and industry advancements

  • Work closely and in alignment with talent and performance partner - linking in on talent strategy, people reporting and talent development

  • Establish and own our social media presence for recruiting

  • Lead and manage our approach to graduate recruitment

  • Own third party relationships eg Linkedin

  • Lead and establish recruitment events that build on our strong employer brand 



  • Experience in Talent Acquisition strategies and techniques with significant ‘hands on’ recruitment experience in many sectors including media and technology

  • A strong track record of creating diversity and inclusion strategies and deliverables

  • Ability to lead on the design and execution of direct hire activity

  • Experience of internal talent mobility strategies

  • Deep knowledge of ‘go to market’ approaches

  • Ability to think and act strategically as well as tactically, anticipating future consequences and trends accurately

  • Desire and ability to challenge conventional thinking, managing risk and influencing a broad cross-section of stakeholders

  • Results driven self-starter: takes initiative and consistently delivers results of the highest quality, has a sense of urgency, overcomes hurdles and ensures that results are delivered

  • Demonstrated history of building rapport and robust relationships as well as influencing at all levels including leadership, external customers, suppliers and stakeholders

  • Strong stakeholder management experience

  • Commercial awareness

  • Clear and engaging communication style with the ability to adapt to others’

  • External networking to bring fresh insights into the FT
