A rewarding career starts with a rewarding workplace. Appreciate an inspiring, uplifting work environment? We do, too. SERVING OTHERS
Our mission goes beyond being a business
We believe our mission of Serving Others is what got us to where we are today. For over 75 years, we’ve incorporated this simple but vastly important focus into everything we do. You can see it in our tight-knit community of co-workers, who are always ready and willing to help each other through the Dollar General Employee Assistance Foundation. You can see it with our community outreach programs and how we put our customers at the center of everything we do.
THE DOLLAR GENERAL LITERACY FOUNDATION
The Life-Changing Gift of Literacy.
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation believes that everyone deserves an equal opportunity to receive a basic education. Created in honor of our co-founder J.L. Turner, who was functionally illiterate, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation provides grants to literacy programs in Dollar General hometown communities. Whether an individual is learning to read, preparing for their high school equivalency or learning the English language, we believe it is never too late to learn!

We hire roughly 5,000 military veterans a year. But our support goes far beyond that. In an exclusive partnership with Coca-Cola, we recognize and pay tribute to the outstanding military community with our Share a Coke® series. And, we provide ongoing tributes and donations to support the troops. Here are just a few of the ways we’ve been recently recognized:
