About me
A payments expert and healthcare business strategist currently residing in Denver, CO, Deirdre Baggot is able to bring about positive changes wherever she happens to be employed. Equipped with numerous college degrees, including a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Southern Illinois University, a Master's degree in Business Administration from Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, Deirdre has made her mark in numerous positions within the healthcare industry.
Upon obtaining her college degrees, Deirdre graduated in 1997 and began putting her education to good use at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Hired as a resource coordinator and staff nurse, she also was given the added responsibility of manager of the hospital administration group. In her tenure at the hospital, she was a key figure in not only helping employees and patients with numerous tasks, but also found herself being recognized for her skills in being able to persuade highly-skilled individuals to join the NMH team.
Yet after six successful years at NMH, Deirdre Baggot chose to leave and move to Ann Arbor, MI, where she began a three-year stint with the University of Michigan Health System. In her new capacity as a business analyst and administrative manager, she focused primarily on increasing efficiency and safety within the organization. As a result of her efforts, she gained Lean/Six Sigma certification, and was also presented with an award for Outstanding Leadership in Safety.
Continuing to excel in her field, Deirdre was in high demand by numerous companies and organizations, and thus left Ann Arbor in 2006. Moving to Denver, CO, she became the Senior Administrator for the renowned Cardiac and Vascular Institute, which is owned and managed by SCL Health. In her new role, she not only was now in charge of supervising 450 employees, but also had extensive responsibilities in such areas as recruiting, marketing, acquisitions, payer contracting, business development, and many other areas important to the organization. During her four-year tenure, she again shined as a recruiter who was able to lure exceptional individuals to the institute. However, her crowning achievement was being able to help the institute establish 11 additional clinics in and around the Denver area, leading to many more patients receiving much-needed care.
Eventually, Deirdre Baggot again decided to pursue other challenges, and thus moved to Los Angeles, where she began working for GE Healthcare Partners. Hired to be a Senior Vice-President, she was immediately put in charge of healthcare payment systems. Thanks to her hard work, a new payments consulting organization was created, leading to an additional $6.6 million in annual revenues.
Due to her extensive knowledge and experience in the business side of healthcare, Deirdre is a regular guest and contributor to various shows on National Public Radio, including Planet Money, Morning Edition, and All Things Considered. Along with this, she has also recently been Chairperson of the National Bundled Payment Summit, where she sought to find solutions to many complexities associated with healthcare payment systems.
