For 15 years, Charmion has played a role in extending the reach of government, political, non-profit, business and advocacy organizations with her communications expertise in philanthropic and community-based initiatives. Currently, the Communications Director for Corporate Education Partnerships at Discovery Education, Charmion helps to lead press and strategic outreach efforts. Discovery Education is the global leader in standards-based digital content for K-12, serving 4.5 million educators and over 50 million students in half of U.S. classrooms, 50 percent of all primary schools in the UK, and more than 50 countries. Charmion most recently led communications for MBK Alliance, where she provided strategic communications counsel for the organization’s work to expand opportunities for boys and young men of color. Prior to her service with MBK Alliance, Charmion led Citizenship Communications at The Walt Disney Company, where she helped to elevate the enterprise’s reputation through deploying social impact campaigns that influenced kids, families and communities across the nation, and around the world. In service to the Obama Administration from 2009 to 2013, Charmion aided former President Barack Obama as a political appointee in ranging public affairs capacities, including: Assistant Press Secretary for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Associate for the Press Office of First Lady Michelle Obama and Special Assistant for the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC). Preceding her political career, Charmion worked at the Ad Council, Inc. and Edelman, where she advised the promotion of strategy-based campaigns that resulted in effective social responsibility and inclusion efforts. Charmion graduated from the Howard University School of Communications, where she received a B.A. in journalism. She earned certification from the Harvard Business School's CSR Executive Education Program in 2016 and she is currently a Google Next Gen Policy Leader.
