Bill Tai has funded over 100 companies as a venture capitalist for over 25 years. He is Chairman of Treasure Data, Inc.; Board Director of BitFury and Voxer Inc and a lead seed investor in companies including Canva, Color Genomics, Kickfurther, Shoes of Prey, Tango.me, Tweetdeck/Twitter, Wish and Zoom Video.

He is a Partner Emeritus at CRV and served as Partner at IVP, Founding CEO of iAsiaWorks (IPO via Goldman Sachs & Morgan Stanley) and Founding Chairman of IPinfusion (Tokyo:4813). As an VC he has funded 19 companies that went public and served as Board Director of 7 publicly listed companies (AWRD EGHT IAWK NPIX TMTA TUNE and IMGO).

He holds a BSEE with Honors from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Harvard, serves on the World Economic Forum's Technology Pioneer Committee and is an Adjunct Professor of Innovation at Curtin University in Perth, Australia.

After earning an EE degree, Bill joined LSI Logic, a seminal Silicon Valley startup formed by the CEO of Fairchild Semiconductor. After HBS he was issued helped establish TSMC (NYSE:TSM), now among the most valuable technology companies in the world.

Outside of his commercial activities, he is co-founder of MaiTai Global a 501(c)3 dedicated to preserving the ocean and its related ecosystems and a sponsored athlete in kiteboarding.
