Why Do We Hate Political Correctness

What exactly do people have against political correctness? There is so much vocal and visible hatred towards this idea, and I have to admit, I don’t really understand. Is the problem that people are asking for too much respect? Or is it that everyone is finally being held accountable when they choose to be huge assholes?

While, yes, it’s true that we have the right to freedom of speech, that doesn’t mean that you’re completely exempt from all repercussions that might come your way due to what you say. You can’t necessarily be arrested for what you might say, but other people have a right to exercise their freedom of speech when they blast you with their “political correctness”. Oh, that horrible political correctness.

Since when did it become gauche to call people out on their rude behavior, their harmful behavior, or their hurtful behavior? Why, in the face of so much hate in the world, do you wish to contribute towards it? It’s incredible that it is so difficult for people to accept that, hey, some people are hurt by what you say! Could you please be a mature human being and NOT purposefully hurt someone? Is that so much to ask?

Apparently it is. Though society is changing, some people are still holding steadfast. I suppose it could be admired, anyone who is that hardheaded has to hold some pretty strong convictions.

In a perfect world, we wouldn’t be threatened by political correctness. We would listen to the stories and testimonies of those treated unfairly, and we would no longer attempt to speak over the conversation. We would be civilized. We would adjust to keep up with an ever-changing, more open minded society. However, that doesn’t seem to be a viable future at this moment in time. No, people are much too concerned with their right to say bigoted things than they’re concerned with the toll those bigoted statements take.

Although a staggering 41% of Transgender people attempt to commit suicide, according to those against political correctness, we shouldn’t change the way we treat or talk about Trans people because that isn’t right. People have a right to bully them into the ground, people have a right to spew hatred, it’s protected under the first amendment. The word “Tr*nny” should be perfectly acceptable in any conversation, and hey why is Caitlyn Jenner a hero when that firefighter just saved a cat from a tree!!

In a recent study done across 22 countries, it was found that 84% of women face street harassment before the age of 17, but we treat women fine and Feminism hasn’t been necessary since white women gained the right to vote! “Blurred Lines” was an awesome song, who cares if it’s about rape? Women in first world countries have no real problems, god, stupid Feminazis!

All sarcasm aside, political correctness is needed for us to evolve as a society and as people. Terms always grow out of date, as do ideas. It has to be said, people who vehemently oppose political correctness have to lack a certain level of empathy. It takes a certain kind of person to oppose changes in the way that we see things and in the way that we talk about things. Ignoring the words of marginalized groups is just pure willful ignorance, through and through. It’s frustrating that we’ve come so far as a society towards being accepting of others, yet we still face backlash from those outdated individuals who absolutely refuse to change. People say that we will all become equal once old racists and sexists and capitalists die out, but what they don’t seem to grasp is that hate breeds hate, and racists breed racists.

A whole new generation of hatred-filled individuals walk among us every day. They are not progressing with the times, they are instead attempting to block construction on a new and safer world. Unfortunately, as with all bigots, they will never recognize that they are bigots. They will spew hatred and contempt and never realize that they are the only ones who remain angry while the rest of the world celebrates love and happiness around them.

So if racists and bigots breed racists and bigots then the same could be said about Muslims. they raise terrorists then I suppose all blacks steal and all Spanish are lazy and want government money and hand outs. typical college girl with no brain spewing political correctness when the term in a whole is bull shit. you don't like what I have to say suck it up sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me you dumb bitch. We are living in a double standards type of world where it's ok for one race but not ok for another . Where something might be good for one but not for all . Where we tote equality when in reality never was any and probably never will be . And for your info trans gender don't make me laugh it's not a gender get it through your peanut sized brain those people have chemical imbalances in their brains and need mental help and gay people ha god made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve to each his own but it's morally wrong and we are teaching future generations wrong morals and values then one wonders why kids now a days are running ramped in the streets and have no respect for no one

Oh we don't say bigot... You see that is implying that the person is intolerant towards others. You see that is very harsh. The word hate also is rather strong. I would kindly ask that you stop. Also using the word god the way you did earlier is offensive to some religious people and assuming that all of them are bigots is stereotyping. You see the problem with political corectness (or at least one of the problems) is that it is not really a permanent solution to any of the problems you stated above and many times it only acts as a rallying point for the people who offend. Not only this but it's often exclusive to certain groups and can be taken way too far. Do you really think that our society needs to censor the word Christmas?! If we have to censor the names of holidays then don't you think that it's a bit out of hand? People should not mistreat each other but being politically correct didn't help. Sometimes we all just have to "man" up... Also censoring the phrase man up could imply to "some" people that men are not strong and would thus be offensive. Really I get where your coming from but if you want to use the politically correct card then you need to see both sides of the argument equally. It would "offend" others not to...

Yes, but how do you define what is offensive to you? Why should I have to censor myself to avoid you feeling some perceived slight? My point, and of many others, is that sometimes it is up to the listener to simply toughen the fuck up and not get offended over words.
