This Valentine's Day, all of us at Faire want to drum up a little more than gushy statements about affection and romance––we want to get the word out about the many amazing people who are working hard to accomplish love-fueled missions that reflect and promote our common humanity. Below is a list of just a few.
After checking them out though, we really hope you'll share your own stories with us––no matter what you do or where you live––about how you (or the people you know) spread love by honoring and promoting the humanity we all share. We're serious!––we want to hear about them.
Tell us who they are here, and on social media, by using the hashtags #befaire, #commonhumanity and #spreadthelove! We'd love to share your story, too.
Here's a List of Leaders on Love-fueled Missions We Want You to Know About
1. Nisolo––This company is dedicated to paying more than fair wages to artisans in Peru and in other parts of the world, and to returning the fashion industry to a focus on people and art. Their products, many of which have centuries of phenomenal hand made craftsmanship tradition behind them––particularly their shoes––are absolutely stunning. Read about them, check out their stuff, and help them spread the love between maker and buyer.
2. SiiZU––We have told you about them before, but their stuff is just so awesome! SiiZU sells products that are made from ethically sourced, Fair Trade raw materials. Excitingly, they’ve also set a high standard for other fashion companies by prioritizing transparency around where and how they procure materials. The company was built based on the belief that low-impact fabrics are beautiful, high-quality, and comfortable. Check them out and help us love the planet, and ourselves, just a little bit more!
3. Prosperity Candle––Prosperity Candle is a U.S.-based social enterprise that supports refugees and women artisans through hand-poured, high quality, candle-making and other beautifully crafted vessels. For 2 years in a row, they've been recognized by B-Lab (the certifying non-profit org behind "B Corps") as a Best for the World small enterprise. Check them out, and see why!
4. The Tote Project––This company is special, and their Mission is powerful and difficult: they work to empower survivors of human trafficking worldwide, provide them with opportunities to thrive, and help them to recognize their worth and potential. Their fair trade products are sewn in India by women who have made the choice to journey out of the sex trade and into freedom. The Tote Project also donates 10% of their gross profits to Two Wings, a non-profit dedicated to empowering survivors of human trafficking in the United States to pursue their dreams. Check them out today!
