I started tutoring in the elementary school recently. And I have some thoughts about what I have observed.
First of all, I am from Lithuania and the school system in there is way more ridiculous. I don't remember recess, just a pretty stressful PE class where my physical skills were not great and I was ashamed of it. Our classroom was rigid, and we were forced to learned the same stuff. Luckily, I was always towards the top of the class. The people who struggled were forced to learn all the same material without having a good understanding of it.
I entered the room of elementary schools again as a tutor and I was happy to see that laptops were widely used and helps individualized learning. There are tutors like to help individually learn, While helping read and do some basic math is very valuable during the elementary school age is important, and I am glad we do have technology to ease the math teaching.
However, I don't think we should never get rid of schools and go to online education fully. The way classes are taught, what classes are teaching, and maybe how long kids are spending in school should change. Nerveless, the concept of physical school should never be changed. I have taken one online class and it's the most anti-social activity ever. How are we going to teach our kids to interact with one another if we let them stay home and do school purely online? With that in mind, we should really teach many classes about communication.
To conclude, I am very happy to see technology in the classrooms aiding the learning process, but we should integrate it in a way that would still help kids to learn to be a good communicator.
