Your recent budget cuts proposal seriously threw me off guard. How could you so nonchalantly cut government spending on such vital programs in our society such as the arts and education? As a current member of Generation X, I can personally attest to the childhood influences that PBS, Meals on Wheels, NPR, etc. have had on my development. As many students have experienced throughout their years of school, learning can be seen as dull and tedious. However, till this day, I still hold on to the fun and excitement that Cookie Monster has shown us about being hungry for knowledge. Discarding such public education programs is parallel to discarding the potential invigoration of knowledge of our future generations.
Therefore, education is an investment for the future. Our next Nobel Prize winners and world leaders are sitting in classrooms right now, absorbing the knowledge that they will base our world's future decisions on. If you stop investing in education, then you will stop investing in the world's future.
