Meet Lesley Isgur, she will share insights into her work at Philips as a Senior Engineer in the (Q&R) Quality and Regulatory Division.
The journey has just begun…
I was working at a small medical device company when I felt the need for a new challenge so I contacted a former coworker who started working at Philips in Bothell, WA.
Through the hiring process, I was captivated by the global aspect of the company which allowed employees access to resources and international projects. I quickly realized that not only was I surrounded by brilliant minds, from all over the world, but by people who made you feel part of something bigger.
Quality must be at the heart of everything…
I am a Quality Engineer supporting ECR (Emergency Care and Resuscitation) This business segment makes defibrillators. My job is to help investigate possible issues and ensuring that our devices meet the proper quality requirements. We investigate the root causes of problems and quality issues. We are talking about malfunctions that could potentially put our customers and patients at risk, so we know the responsibility that comes with working in this area. We take quality so seriously that we have the power to shut down a manufacturing line if there is enough concern on the quality and regulatory measures.
In a few words…
I enjoy coming to the office every day, there is always a new challenge that creates the opportunity for professional growth. Our team is helpful to each other; we have built relationships based on trust and respect. In the end, we all want to improve people’s lives.
To all future Q&R (Quality and Regulatory) professionals, never underestimate the value of a good network. Knowing the right people will help lead you to your best career.
