On Uncertainty, Perseverance, and the Audacity to Create

For the first time, I refused myself the sweet safety net of a script. Just me my curiosities and questions, and a uniquely inspiring and courageous person I looked up to, sitting across from me. And in perfect accordance with Stephen King's wise words from his memoir on writing and life in general- "The scariest moment is always just before you start. After that, things can only get better."- my trepidation for freestyling subsided and our conversations flowed beautifully.

It was a pleasure interviewing individuals at the forefront of society's unquestionable movement towards blockchain, a technology that facilitates direct, transparent, and fast connections between people and any institution that they decide to interact with (banks, insurance companies, etc.). I hope you enjoy our conversations, which were conducted through Gifts of Awesome (www.giftsofawesome.org) and livestreamed from the incredible City Blockchain Summit in New York. Feel free if you would like to conduct your own interview with entrepreneurs, or even create your own company, as I would be beyond happy to point you towards essential resources and opportunities.

How did you start your company @Karina Melnik I have heard of your organization and am very appreciative of the idea. Was it difficult to get support?

Hi Sarah! Thank you very much for your kind words :) I started Gifts of Awesome out of a desire to revive my classmate's and peer's inherent abilities as creators and entrepreneurs. By reaching out to my network and making new connections in fields like computer science, humanitarianism, etc., I was able to gather support and ultimately tangible partnerships for my idea. In terms of whether it was difficult or not, I remember being nervous at first when approaching high-profile entrepreneurs and organizers. However, I've found that if you believe in your idea and aren't afraid to exude your passion for the idea, individuals you approach will notice your desire to bring your ideas to life, and will ultimately want to be a part of your journey for various reasons. With practice, gathering support can become fairly easy to do. Thank you for your question!
