"Night," An Original Poem

Recently, I have discovered poetry. I used to absolutely hate poetry. As much as I tried to pretend I was that edgy girl who loved Sylvia Plath, I couldn't. Yet, when I entered a dark period of my life, poetry was about all I could write. It seemed to fit my mood, where I couldn't write a full sentence anymore but just a few words. I could skip over words I had deemed not as exciting and go straight to the action. Now, as I can finally feel myself slowly leaving this dark period behind, I found a new appreciation for poetry and how it makes me feel. I hope you like the way they make you feel as well.

night

It's like when the sun goes down

I feel like I have awaken

My blood starts flow

My body is mistaken

Only it's not a mistake

I feel awake at night

When darkness surrounds me

Everything seems alright

It is like a warm embrace

From a blanket of stars

With a few sprinkles of planets

From Saturn to Mars'

I can hear animals around me

Their feet makes soft sounds

It is at night

Where I feel most homebound

Beneath the stars

Is where you will find me

And up by the moon

Is where I will be
