I remember the joy a New Year would bring me as a child. I don't even know what made it so enchanting to see a year turn up one digit on the television. Next week I went back to school and the only thing different would be the date I put down on the paper. Then I grew a little, and New Year became a family day. All the relatives got together, there would fireworks, and we all ate and laughed together. I would spend a few weeks organizing all my school supplies, closet, and bedroom, which would eventually all fall apart by finals week. Then I grew a little more, and New Year meant being around friends, partying and counting down to the HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I would spend the following months working out, eating better, and train myself to be kind to myself. Now, in present time sitting here in my bedroom, I don't know what the next weeks, months, or the year is suppose to look like but I know one thing; I know that I want to give back to my community, friends, family, and especially to my beloved Earth! I really hope more of my youth takes responsibility regarding climate change this year and advocates, invents, and fights for a happier Earth so that we and our children can experience the joy of new coming years. Happy New Year to you all! May this year bring you all success and happiness year all year long!
