Today thousands went out to the streets to protest injust pension cuts, the closing of over 283 public schools, and the slow hurricane recovery efforts. Many govermental offices closed operations for the day in solidarity with the movement. The peaceful march came to an end when students from the Univerity of Puerto Rico (UPR) started chanting. Afterwards, the police started throwing tear gas at the huge crowd and then even further following students to their residences and arresting them without an official warrant. This is happening is the US right now and I do not hear any word from US officals. This is why we need to take matters into our own hands.
