Reese Witherspoon, Danai Guirra & Mogul Celebrate International Women’s Day at UN Women

The Time Is Now.

More aptly, the time was this morning as Mogul proudly helped celebrate International Women's Day with UN Women at the United Nations Headquarters on March 8, 2018 in New York City. "This year, International Women’s Day comes on the heels of unprecedented global movement for women’s rights, equality and justice," the invitation explained. "Sexual harassment, violence and discrimination against women has captured headlines and public discourse, propelled by a rising determination for change."

Women from around the globe joined together in the General Assembly Hall for the event titled: 'TIME IS NOW: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives.' The audience included a who's who of women at the forefront of the movement for women's rights and equality, including Hon. Ms. Julie Bishop MP, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Australia, H.E. Ms. Geraldine Byrne Nason, Chair of the 62nd session of the Commission on the Status of Women and Ms. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director, UN Women.Mogul Global Marketing Manager Allie Mullen and Mogul Global Manager of Content & Community are all smiles inside the General Assembly Hall

Introduced by Moderator, famed Journalist Sade Baderinwa of WABC News, Co-Founder and President of Alianza Nacional de Campesinas, Ms. Monica Ramirez stirred the crowd to a raucous applause during her keynote speech when she shouted with glee, "We are not waiting to be saved, we are saving ourselves."

After a stirring rendition of Katy Perry's "Roar" by young singer Drew Olivia Tillman, Academy Award–winning actor and activist Reese Witherspoon and Tony-nominated playwright, actor and activist Danai Gurira brought the crowd to tears as they discussed the #MeToo movement and the power we all hold as women to make a difference, not someday or tomorrow, but today.

The time is NOW. Watch the video from the fireside chat with Guirra and Witherspoon below and try not to get all the chills.
