Hello, Mogul Members!
As your Mogul President, I wanted to give you a little insight into who I am and what I strive for in our achievements as a club. Furthermore, I also wanted to take some time to address recent events that have taken place both near and far and give you some time to reflect upon them.
A little bit about me: I am a current senior at Campo who will be pursuing a career in fashion photography upon graduation and moving to London to get my degree! I’m a dedicated environmentalist (and have worked with the University of California, Global Student Embassy, Rotary/Interact—you may know me as Campo’s VP—and more to help make the world a better place!), rower for a few California clubs including Cal’s over summer, intern and fashion ambassador at Nordstrom, among many more things. I love to travel and jump at the chance to do so when it’s been possible; I’ve been to at least eight countries in Europe, parts of Ecuador with GSE to plant trees, and various parts of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii! Fun fact: I ALWAYS bring my camera with me wherever I go. As a photo major, I’m always looking for the right angle to snap the perfect picture wherever I may be. I also am a huge planner lover and jot down everything and anything in it; if it’s semi-important, it goes in the (color-coded) planner! For the future, I hope to possibly combine my love of photo with my passion for writing and be a photojournalist for publications such as Vogue or Vanity Fair and attend elite events such as New York Fashion Week (NYFW)! After I receive my degree in London, I would love to move to New York City and my dream would be to own a brownstone in the West Village of Greenwich Village in Manhattan! Otherwise, living in the up-and-coming trendy area of Hackney in London would be fantastic. If you have any other questions for me (weird and wacky ones welcome, too!), let me know in the comments below!
Secondly, I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for being the incredible women (and men) you are today. We all have stories and yours have led you to this moment and I couldn’t be more thankful to have gotten to know each and every one of you. As we celebrated International Women’s Day this past week, all of you have shown kindness and love to your fellow women and that alone can change the world. Respect your fellow ladies and work towards equality; as the unofficial slogan of Women’s Day goes: “Empowered women empower women”!
As for Mogul, it is my ultimate goal for us as a school to come together and use this platform to speak our minds freely. For this week’s topic, if you have an opinion on the recent school gun shootings/gun violence, write it below using the #NeverAgain. The Florida shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglass High School as well as the nearby shooting at the Yountville Veterans Center just yesterday have impacted our lives in many ways and I believe change is desperately needed. What is your take on these issues? What do you think can/should be done? What are your thoughts on the March for Our Lives Walkout as well? Whatever they may be, it is imperative now more than ever that we unite as one and support each other in our times of need. If you need to speak to someone in light of recent events, please reach out to someone you trust such as a family member, mentor, friend, counseling staff (we do have a full-time support counselor available at school as well, which I am always surprised to hear most people are not aware of), or even a fellow Mogul member such as myself, and we will do our best to support you in any way we can.
Stay safe, friends! We’re always here for you and believe in you 100%. If you need someone to talk to, please don’t hesistate to reach out. If you want to voice your opinion, please feel free to do so in the comments below. We are a platform for free and positive speech and I would love to hear your thoughts.
With Much Kindness,
P.S.: Meeting has been moved to this upcoming Wednesday at lunch in D5, so don’t miss out!
