Mogul is always telling girls to "wear their crown with pride" but three teens from Texas took that message to an all-new level.
When Lillian Skinner learned she was nominated for homecoming queen at Grand Prairie High School in North Texas she was super-excited. But then something horrible happened. It turned out to be a prank.
Thankfully her two longtime friends came to the rescue. Anahi Alvarez and Naomi Martinez, classmates and friends of Lillian wanted to make sure she got to wear the crown no matter what!
“We promised each other and we were like, ‘No matter what, no backing down. If one of us wins, we’re giving Lillian the crown,’ ” Martinez told NBC 5 in Dallas.
And when Alvarez won the crown she immediately called on Lillian to take her place. “I said, ‘It’s okay. It’s okay. It’s your crown … My name is not on the list.' Seeing the look on her face and the way she reacted toward it, it was priceless,” Martinez said. “I knew it was the right decision.”
Now that's what I call a queen. The kind act has garnered all three girls national attention and a plum spot on the couches of talk show host Ellen.
