How school are turning from a trusting place into a nightmare

Schools have always been seen as a second home, where children and teenagers go to learn. But during the last few years some of them have become one of the most grusome places to attend. We as children see school as a road towards adulthood and maturirty, where we can meet new people. Sadly, not every school is safe for us. Mass school shootings are more more common than you think. Stadistics show that every month at least 7 schools have a altercation that involves guns. This has had a big impact on our society, children are dying. The worst part is that we are not doing anything to change this. We continue holding onto our seocnd amendment right (to bear arms) when we should be heading toward a gunless nation. We as children are imploring you to listen, to see, to realize that this is not okay. We deserve more, why should children die? Are we not enough for you? We have the same rights as all f you, but adults cant simply let go of that need to have power. I am deeply distrubed by the fact that we as Americans, the so called top nation, cannot have gun reforms that help keep children safe. I could never imagine going through such a horrible experience, but I wish to give my solem respect, condolence and strenght to those who did. When will we wake up and realie that not everything is okay. We just want to be able to go to school and not have the fear, that someone may barge in and begin shooting up the school. We the children deserve a place that can bring us peace from all the problems that sorround us, a place where our innocence may stay intact, where we can decide who we wanna be, where we can live. So I ask of you to please wake up America, the kids aren't allright.

I'm scared for my children and I don't even have any yet. Seeing gun violence in classrooms makes me not want to bring any children into the world :(

@Lauren Klein I would love to be able to live in a weapons free world but sadly things cannot be this way. I believe that acquiring a gun must be extremely regulated, assault weapons must be banned, and we must start defunding the NRA. Because if they have defunded planned parenthood because of abortion why should we fund the NRA which encourages violence and is completely damaging the image of the parkland shooting victims. Hopefully in the near future we can have a gun free world but we must start with baby steps. Its time to change things and take control of our lives, a life is a hundred times worth more than a gun.
