As we come to the end of another year it's so important we take time out to reflect . For me it's so important to remember the little things aswell as the big stuff . I love giving back to others .
I'm a award winning philanthropist, community consultant and global campaigner . As well as being. an international human rights activist & motivational Tedx speaker from UK , I have travelled all over the world empowering & motivating others often as a volunteer .
With over two decades of experience I'm a expert in various development related fields. I've been driving innovation, building strategic partnerships, promoting advocacy and programming in the areas of human rights, gender equality, accountability and social justice globally .
I am often asked why do always volunteer so much ?
The answer is I find it incredibly rewarding and over the years I have met loads of amazing people . It's also a hobby something I love doing.
Volunteering offers vital help to people in need, worthwhile causes, and the community,
I remember back in the 90,s my aunts used to think I was crazy for working for free . I used to say it's giving me loads of experiences and not everything is about money .
I have a long history of volunteering over 27 years it demonstrates my commitment to the community and a willingness to work for the betterment of others.
Ive gained new experiences and travelled the world meeting interesting people I've gained an insight to other cultures & industries
Also there is a real sense of Accomplishment , I have manage to do things like speak at the UN , European Parliament & universities across the globe . And this week I have been invited to the US House of Representatives . By networking and meeting likeminded individuals I've mange to work on some great projects globally .
I love giving to my time to mentor the next generation , share my experiences and knowledge . I find it so incredibly rewarding . This year I put out a message on social media would someone like to be mentored by myself .
After receiving 187 applications and interviewing people I've come up with 4 people . This has been a very difficult task . I have agreed to support & advice people I've connected with some really interesting people who have such passion & drive for social justice
I wasn't able to choose between the final 4 people

I can see myself working & mentoring them all so I have decided to give them all a chance
I am still in shock regarding the amount of people who wanted to be mentored by myself
Volunteering provides many benefits to both mental and physical health.
Volunteering helps counteract the effects of stress, anger, and anxiety. The social contact aspect of helping and working with others can have a profound effect on your overall psychological well-being. Nothing relieves stress better than a meaningful connection to another person. Working with pets and other animals has also been shown to improve mood and reduce stress and anxiety.
I have focused on supporting victims of abuse & harmful practices globally and I have spent years empowering young people and the disabled .
I have been brought up as a Sikh & Hindu and both religious teach you about #Seva ” is a Sanskrit word meaning “selfless service” or work performed without any thought of reward or repayment. In ancient India seva was believed to help one's spiritual growth and at the same time contribute to the improvement of a community.
There can be no worship without performing good deeds. There are three different parts of sewa: Tan: physical service, eg, working in the langar and helping to look after the gurdwara. Man: mental service, eg, studying the Guru Granth Sahib Ji and teaching it to others.
So this is why volunteering is so important to me
I live my life by following my Dharma aka my life purpose We all have a gift & talent to share I am very lucky as I found my live calling
Finding Your Calling in Life will change your life its important we listen to our heart and soul . If nothing comes up immediately, you can also ask yourself “What are my unique talents and my special gifts?” or “How can I help? How can I serve myself and others using my own unique talents and my own special gifts?” Another variation on this question is to ask, “What is it that I am most passionate about—what makes me come alive when I am doing it?”
As we go into a new year think about your life it's a great time for reflection think about your work , what was the impact
