Empowering people especially young girls seems to be a very important effort in society today. It is a vital cause since women are half of the world's population and when a young girl or woman succeeds the world succeeds as a whole. What even more exciting, is that business owners male and female are recognizing this fact and now starting to make some exciting moves.
This is the case with entrepreneur Sam Sisakhti. Sam is founder of UsTrendy, the world's largest Independent Fashion e-commerce site and he is using his influence to empower young women. How is this done, you may wonder? He wants to use fashion as a tool for girls to have a more positive self image. In an effort to have a positive impact on young women, he started a foundation called the Believe in Yourself Project just one year ago.
Some of the objectives of charity is to combat the financial pressures that are felt on low income girls and their families to continuously stay in style and purchase new items each season along with promote positive body image.
One of the foundation’s activities is donating dresses to underprivileged girls. As a result they have already provided dresses to girls to wear to school dances and similar events in various states. The girls will be registered in our system and receive dresses all through out the school year for various special occasions.
In November 2016, there was an event held in Washington, DC which was very successful. There are move events planned throughout the year in other cities around the country.
The Believe in Yourself foundation is part of a broader initiative. They are currently in talks with various influential women who at one time or another have struggled with body image, encouraging them to serve as speakers and mentors to the girls within the program. In addition, they are in the process of setting up mentoring programs around the country.
