Michael Jackson and Usher's former back up dancer, Maxx Reed will put his dancing shoes on once again. The former star of the Broadway musical Spider-Man was just hired by SUSHI ROXX's owner Jason Apfelbaum to be the Midtown Manhattan restaurant's dance choreographer.
The hotspot known for its singing and dancing staff previously had "Dancing with the Stars" alum Karina Smirnoff and former Pussycat Doll, Asia Nitollano at its helm.
Maxx Reed is a professional dancer and choreographer originally from Memphis Tennessee. Trained in everything from classical ballet, to hip hop, his work is driven by the unconditional love of art and all things creative. Maxx began his journey into dance training at the age of 10.
At 14 years old, he was given a scholarship to attend the New Ballet Ensemble and School, where he received extensive training.
During this time he danced with many local hip hop crews, molding his abilities as a street dancer. He trained there until he gained a place as a professional ballet dancer in the company and part of the teaching staff. There Maxx was able to teach children who were being given the same scholarship opportunity that molded him as a student.
Since then Maxx Reed has starred in the the ABC TV show, Dance War: Bruno vs Carrie Ann, in which he performed as both a dancer and vocalist at the age of eighteen. In just a few years Maxx has had the privilege of performing in musical theater productions of Cats, West Side Story and Jesus Christ Superstar.
He performed live on stage with Usher on the American Music Awards and made an appearance in the Michael Jackson film, This Is It.
He was also in Michael Jackson's music video for Hold my Hand and in Beyonce’s Who Run the World (Girls). Maxx is excited to share his talents with the team at SUSHI ROXX and began this new journey on April 1st.
