All of us have things we’ve done or experienced in our past that we’d perhaps rather not talk about or even remember. We’ve all made mistakes, inadvertently hurt people, and not trusted ourselves when we should have. There are things we wish we could forget, people we wish we could erase, decisions we would make very differently if we could go back. You see, hindsight really is 20/20 and of course seeing things in reverse makes a lot more sense, but unfortunately, that’s not how life works. While things are happening we have no idea why or what the greater picture is. This is where having a lot of patience and faith come in handy.
Instead of wallowing in and reliving the past; how about you simply focus on the lessons learned and move forward? The truth is, the more you try; the more you’ll inevitably fail, but that is how you will learn. Take the past and use it to your advantage. Focus on what has worked and what hasn’t. When you show up in the arena of life; you are sure to get your ass kicked, but in the end it’s to help you become who you are supposed to! If you ACCEPT your past; it can’t be used against you. If anything it’s simply a tool to help you be better prepared for what’s next and to teach you what you need to work on yourself.
You can simply do what you feel is best in the moment with the information you have at hand; sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn’t. Again, focus on the lessons and let go of the rest. You wouldn’t be the person you are today without EVERY single experience; good or bad that has shaped you. Thank your past and keep moving forward. Stop wasting time and negative energy on things you can never ever change. You deserve your own forgiveness and grace. When you know better; you can do better.
