This week has been filled with days full of stress and uncertainty; those pre-finals week feels. Friday, however, is the third best day of the week, and today UIC Moguls gathered to go to Google’s Student Leadership Summit. I mean, what? Okay, I’ll say it for you one more time: Us Moguls, from a variety of different majors and career goals, visited the tech giant for an invaluable leadership development opportunity. Let’s get into the details ladies.
Estephanie, President; Dana, VP; Kimmy, Event Coordinator; and I...regular member (who is too stoked that I was given this opportunity) all rolled up in a ~fresh carpool~ to the Chicago Google Headquarters. Upon arrival we were given name tags (love a good keepsake) and ushered to the sixth floor; the events floor.
What was special about today, without rewriting every little piece, was the networking opportunity to meet students from all over the Midwest who seemed to share a common interest in Computer Science. Oop, here’s the part where I mention I’m pre-Law. (I mean...they’re going to need someone to write their terms and conditions...and to make sure the tech giant is following privacy laws...right? Right.)
Today opened a door for me that I didn’t think was possible. Me? Possibly working or interning at Google? What seemed to be centered entirely around engineering and computer science students was actually a pathway for those outside of the stereotypical majors. I saw the way each employee was truly passionate of their work and wanted to engage each individual in devloping their leadership skills.
Google, at least so far the Chicago Headquarters, has my utmost respect and admiration.
Thank you Moguls for this day and learning opportunity.
See you next event!
