What’s your backstory?
I grew up in Vancouver, Canada and was a pretty regular kid. I had no idea what I wanted to do after high school, then in grade eleven I was introduced to social media and started my business, Slogan Social. Honestly, I focused so much on growing my business that I almost didn’t graduate. After high school I focused full-time on Slogan Social, trying to expand and grow as much as possible. I had no idea that a passion project would turn into multi-million dollar business. People thought I was crazy in highschool for working 10 hours a day, every day, but it didn’t feel like work to me.
If someone would want to emulate your career, what would you suggest are the most important things to do?
You need to be organized and able to communicate effectively. This has been key for me. I have a running to-do list that I update daily as it keeps me reliable and accountable. This industry is fast paced and accessible to anyone, therefore, you need to be accessible all the time to answer any questions or make any changes that they need. I can’t count how many times I’ve woken up at 4am to answer phone calls and texts. One thing that has really helped me is delegating small busy-work and un-appealing tasks to someone else, so you can focus on what’s important to you.
What are the most exciting projects you are working on now?
I am currently developing an app for influencers to better monitor their social presence. I really think it will be valuable for everyone and I am excited to launch it. I try to help my community as much as possible and I think this app will help them monitor their monetization and analytics best.
