For everyone woman who might need to read this today, this is for you:
I see you. I know you wake up, potential buzzing in your mind but you feel stuck. I know you have a million great ideas but they remain these abstract thoughts inside your head while you tackle the here and the now.
I see you, getting out of bed and getting ready for the day, putting your best fresh face forward. I see you second guess your outfit, hoping it is edgy but not too edgy because you don't want too much attention. You hope the outfit represents your individuality but also somehow aligns with the gender norms set by society today.
I see you, debating on what to eat for breakfast because you really want to destroy something sweet like a sticky bun but you're expected to look lean. You grab your coffee and hope that will be enough as you navigate your maze of a day.
I see you, too tired to smile in the morning, missing your bed. That is okay! But there you are, avoiding eye contact with strangers because you don't want to be called out for your resting b**** face, which is really just your I'm-Not-Awake-Yet-Face.
I see you, agreeing when you want to disagree. I see you telling your boss you'll finish the project when you know it is someone else's responsibility. I see you, scrolling through your social media feeds, trying to escape, just for a minute and picture the life you always wanted while living the life you have. I see you checking your phone to see if he or she has texted you back. I see you doodling hearts on the side of your notes, wondering when you'll get to live the life you always imagined.
I see you eat that salad for lunch, not because you love salads but because that is what is considered appropriate for you to eat (when you really just want a bacon bleu burger).
I see you come home, exhausted, but still get your stuff together to go to that fitness class with your girls. I see you make dinner and battle with your mind between "doing something productive" and zoning out to some Netflix. I see you get ready for bed, knowing you have to do it all again tomorrow. You have so much to do and so little time to do it.
I want you to remember that you are fierce. You are brilliant. You are worthy. You are loved. You have been put on this earth for a reason and if you don't know what that is yet, you will find it. You are beautiful just the way you are.
You have a fire within you that will not die.
You got this.
