We haven't kept guns from the wrong people since Sandy Hook, in fact, we've gone the other way. Gun ownership has increased and more states now allow concealed carry. There is a movement to force states that do not allow concealed carry to permit visitors from states that do to continue to carry. Because the right to bear arms is written into the Constitution, there isn't going to be an easy answer. I live in Connecticut. Five years ago in the wake of Sandy Hook Connecticut did increase gun legislation, and as a result saw at least one gun manufacturer leave the state. Immediately following the shooting police presence in schools increased dramatically, but I think things have calmed down a bit. None of the proposed changes to gun laws since Sandy Hook would have stopped that killing-- or most of the others. The guns used at Sandy Hook were legally purchased and properly stored by the killer's mother. The killer in Vegas legally purchased the guns and ammo he used-- Congress can't even agree to outlaw the bump stock he used to have his legal semi-automatic rifle perform like an illegal automatic one. Welcome to guntopia, there will be more blood spilled.
