Mogul Exclusive: Vitamins for Beauty

Once you reach the ripe young age of 25 the, collagen in your body starts to decrease. What does this mean? A lot. Collagen is the "glue" that holds the body together. The word collagen is derived from the Greek word “kolla” meaning glue.  The body produces collagen naturally and it is in abundance when you're young. Unfortunately, production starts to decline at about age 25 and continues on a decline. It decreases even more in women after menopause. Collagen also decreases with other factors such as smoking, sugar intake, and ultraviolet rays. This decrease leads to wrinkles and sagging skin. There is no way to prevent collagen decreases in the body.

As collagen production decreases, it’s important to have a diet that helps to support production. Foods such as blueberries, dark leafy greens, mango, and eggs are great collagen producers. Superfood and whole-food supplements are also a great addition to the diet. Not every vitamin is created equal. You want to always make sure your vitamins are made from ingredients that the body recognizes as food. Mainstream multivitamins are usually synthetic copycats of what's found in nature. Synthetic vitamins are also made in a lab. They are not promoting beauty.

So what does this have to do with beauty? Everything! Beauty is a reflection of health. A healthy body a healthy lifestyle, and a peace of mind are usually expressed externally by glowing skin, shiny hair, a beautiful smile, and hard nails. Vitamins are essential to supporting beauty and anti-aging.

Getting your vitamins from food: Because of the world we live in, it is extremely hard to get all of your vitamins from the food you eat. Here are some of the Vitamins that are essential to beauty:

Vitamin C:  Vitamin C helps protect your skin against toxins and free radicals. It assists with inflammation in the body and helps in the role of anti-aging. Foods that are rich in vitamin C are red peppers, oranges, grapefruit, and strawberries.

Vitamin B3: This vitamin reduces redness and increases hydration. It has also shown to help clear up acne. Foods with vitamin B3 are tuna and mushrooms.

Vitamin E: This is a major vitamin for beauty! It is an antioxidant that protects your skin and is essential in the prevention of sun damage.  Foods with a high vitamin E content include spinach, nuts, and avocados.

Zinc: Zinc helps to repair damaged skin tissue and aids in scar healing, and also helps to reduce acne flare-ups. Foods with zinc content include seafood, spinach, and beans.

Biotin: Biotin is great for helping to repair dry, irritated skin. by regulating how your body metabolizes fatty biotin is found in romaine lettuce, almonds, and walnuts.

There are a lot of beauty vitamins on the market, so picking the correct one can be tricky. We found one that is a super beauty, energy boosting, kick aging's ass superhero called TimeBlock. Their all plant-based beauty supplement works round the clock 24/7 against father time, with their day and night formulation. Yes, that's right you take one vitamin in the morning and the other at night. But why? We asked the creators of TimeBlock, Frank Haverkate and Marnie Burgess about the science behind TimeBlock. Here is what they shared.

“The reason there are day and night capsules is to optimize skin with essential vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants 24 hours a day. The day capsule also increases energy levels promotes radiance to help you be your best, while the night capsule helps achieve a deeper, more regenerative sleep, allowing you to wake up restful and with better-looking skin. Formulated in Switzerland (which makes it already better than the crap that the FDA allows in the United States) TimeBlock utilizes a Telomer Complex that is derived from superfoods such as barley grass, grape seeds, brown seaweed, wheat grass, tomatoes, marigold, and shitake. These superfoods help repair damaged telomeres in the body (and help make new ones).  So what is a telomere and why should you care? Telomeres are at the end of each strand of DNA. They basically protect our chromosomes.

With all the beauty vitamins on the market, I encourage you to choose wisely. I wish you peace, love, and collagen! Until next time.
