About me
Rachel Dawn Hayes is an Austin-based freelance writer and journalist. She uses her interviewing prowess and storytelling abilities to uncover and share the heart of a topic and works hard to represent people, places and purposes with her words. Her favorite areas of focus include the work of non-profits and NGOs, architecture, design, travel, food and wine.
Rachel is a regular contributor to two architectural magazines and several websites and blogs. Throughout her career in communications she has been an editor, copywriter, creative manager and marketing director and has written about everything from IP litigation to antique car seatbelt restoration to a LEED-certified convent in Harlem. Whatever the assignment, Rachel finds joy in meeting new people, learning new things, and sharing ideas and experiences through her writing.
Rachel volunteers as a Reading Buddy with Communities in Schools of Central Texas, is a member of the Women Communicators of Austin, is a member of the Austin Food Blogger Alliance, and is passionate about pouring into others and helping them realize their potential. She is a world traveler, excellent cook, and is quite smitten with her husband Joel.
