The Sales & Marketing Development Program (SMDP) offers a structured start to your personal career path. Over the course of your tenure in SMDP, you will gain broad perspective, understanding, and knowledge of retail/national account management, management of a team, and commercial sales. Getting you out of the office, we immerse you in the world of our end-users, our customers, and our business partners at our multi-billion dollar retailers, commercial job sites, and service centers. You will develop crucial knowledge, skills, and experience with customized job rotations in key areas of our business that are designed specifically for SMDP. In your first role as a Sales Coordinator or Sales & Marketing Specialist; you will manage a territory of stores for either The Lowe’s Home Improvement Store, or The Home Depot. Here you will be responsible for sales, merchandising, event strategy and execution, marketing, forming business relationships, and creating a go-to-market strategy.
There are many opportunities in SMDP that can help you gain more experience to become a versatile employee. Typical roles, but not limited to, are as follows: Market Manager, Field Marketing Coordinator, Field Service Coordinator, and Inside Sales. We encourage you to challenge yourself and take on as many roles as your desired career path allows. The program is designed to develop you both personally and professionally focusing on the following leadership qualities: Vision, Boundaryless, Integrity, Speed, Stretch, Accountability, and Respect.
During SMDP, you will participate in a rigorous training curriculum providing you with extensive knowledge and understanding of our products and the industry. Throughout the program you will have the opportunity to relocate 2-3 times to major metropolitan cities across the United States, and grow your professional network. Post-SMDP career opportunities within Stanley Black & Decker are endless. From Brand Marketing to Recruiting, Sales Operations, Account Management and beyond; SMDP ensures that you will be equipped with the necessary skills for continued success in your future roles.
Successful candidates meet the following requirements:

- Track record of profound achievement
- The desire to meet and exceed measurable performance goals
- Have a four-year bachelor's degree or up to 3 years of relevant experience
- Must be willing to travel up to 90% regionally, work occasional weekends
- Bilingual is a plus
