    Software Sales & Channel Development Executive, Human Performance & Wellbeing (HPW)


    Portland, OR or Remote


    Responsible for leading the channel development and sale of HPW products and services to health care brokers, consultants, and employer groups. Contributes to the overall success of the corporation by establishing customer relationships to deploy these solutions into the employer and broker market and driving revenue. Works with Product Development and other members of the HPW Leadership team to inform product development.  Works directly with Brokers and employer groups in the standalone sale of HPW products.

    Responsibilities & Requirements


    • Knowledge of the human performance & wellbeing industry and health insurance.
    • Experience developing and leading a team of sales professionals, including establishing sales operations and processes.
    • Superior Sales expertise and thorough knowledge of sales techniques including, maintaining prospect lists, pipeline, business plans and maintaining data in CRM.
    • Demonstrated success in developing and executing a go-to-market strategy for a channel-centric business model.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and formal presentation experience.
    • Demonstrates in-depth problem-solving skills, effectively overcoming sales challenges to delivery results that exceed sales targets.
    • Strong negotiating and presentation skills.
    • Creative problem-solving capabilities.
    • Ability to prioritize, self-motivate, and work independently.
    • Ability to work independently with limited direct day to day supervision. Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others, including agents/brokers.
    • Must work well in a team environment.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal employees, agents, group administrators and the general public.
    • Must present a positive and professional image.
    • Ability to engage in community / networking opportunities outside of normal business hours.


    Normally to be proficient in the competencies listed above:

    • The Sales and Channel Development Executive, Human Performance & Wellbeing would have a Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of sales experience preferably in the wellbeing and benefits field or equivalent combination of education and experience.


    Required Licenses, Certifications, Registration, Etc.:

    • Must hold a valid Driver's License.


    General Functions and Outcomes:

    • Participate in developing sales targets, and lead efforts to meet or exceed new sales and retention targets. Sales and retention targets may be defined by channel or Line of Business in support of Company's overall goals.
    • Develop, implement and continuously improve an annual strategic Business Development Plan, which will include specific strategies and tactics for achieving the stated sales and retention targets. Plan will also include, but is not limited to, market and competitive analysis using demographic and other data as appropriate, lead-generation plans, specific sales activities/calendars and agent strategies. Plan will be modified regularly in response to market changes or competitor initiatives, as well as other factors.
    • Develop sales strategies and tactics with agents/brokers to achieve budgeted sales targets. Track agent production results and motivate increased production using best practices based on goals as determined in Business Plan. Maintain positive relationships with brokers and consultants for market intelligence.
    • Analyze competitor's programs and advise consultants on how to position HPW’s products against competition.
    • Generate qualified leads through field activities/events and referrals to meet targets.
    • Interact with consultants, brokers, and groups to promote the sale of new business, facilitate renewals and resolve problems in the market.
    • Effectively and efficiently manage leads, including CRM data entry updates and follow-up activities.
    • Build and maintain mutually respectful relationships with leadership, team members, and representatives of other functional areas and departments. Work as a team to ensure the appropriate handling of customers and to continuously improve sales processes and methods.
    • Demonstrate the following: mastery of all parts of the sales process, from lead generation through closing, the ability to meet aggressive sales goals through persistence in the face of obstacles; respect and appreciation for the goals of the Company, the members of the team and the customers with whom we do business; ability to adapt to and support new or modified sales approaches; the ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid change, excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to articulate well when speaking in front of any size audience; strong organization and time management skills: basic-to-advanced computer skills.
    • Trains employees and potential customer on the details of products, services, and administration.
    • Negotiates prices/contracts with customers. Develops creative solutions for customers while ensuring compliance with HPW requirements.
    • Develops strategies for sales, cross selling, and developing assigned consultants/Brokers books of business.
    • Develops new and maintains (strengthens) existing sales distribution channels. Keeps current on new developments in the marketplace to identify problems, trends, solutions, and takes the appropriate steps to ensure that information critical to the success of the Company is utilized.
    • Responsible for keeping abreast of the competitive activities and trends in the life and disability industry.
    • Develops and maintains an in-depth knowledge of all internal procedures as they affect both sales, service, and compliance issues.



    Work Environment:

    • No unusual working conditions.
    • Travel is required, locally and out of state.
    • May be required to work outside normal working hours.
