Job Description

JOB SKILLS EXPECTATIONS:

A.  Mechanical

1.         Conveyor systems:  Troubleshoot issues related to conveyor systems, belting, bearings, shafts, rollers, frames and legs, motors, gearboxes, pulleys, V-belts, cog belts, sensors, railings, chains, sprockets, buckets, fences, traffic stops, E-stops, and supply power.

a.         Able to change bearings, shafts, rollers, belting (lacing and welded plastic), motors, gearboxes, corn plows, air cylinders, sensors, chains, sprockets, buckets, pulleys, cog belts and V-belts.

b.         Able to repair motors, gearboxes, rollers, frames and legs, railings, fences, plows, air cylinders, buckets, chains, sprockets, V-belts, pulleys, cog belts, traffic stops and electrical issues.

c.         Able to align or adjust shafts, bearings, gearboxes, motors, chain drives, plows, rollers, sensors, air cylinders, belt drives and main conveyor belting.

d.         Able to perform the above expectations in a timely manner with no defects.

2.         Packaging machinery:  Troubleshoot and repair issues related to jaws, jaw alignment, jaw heaters, jaw cylinders, jaw guide bearings, seals, hole punches, hole punch heaters, knives, knife timing, knife linkage, back seal bars, back seal irons, back seal heaters, thermocouples, heater controllers, variable frequency drives, rollers, formers, brakes, drives, motors, gearboxes, turntables, air cylinders, pneumatic systems, solenoid valves, flow control valves, linkages, ball joints, ball swivels, chains, carriages, sprockets, code daters, code date heaters, film rollers, delivery chutes, timing, stroke and lubrication.

a.         Able to change bearings, sprockets, chains, jaws, jaw heaters, back seal bars, back seal irons, back seal heaters, thermocouples, heater controllers, variable frequency drives, rollers, brake pads, brake pulleys, formers, code daters, jaw cylinders, back seal cylinders, solenoid valves, flow control valves, pneumatic tubing, linkage arms, guide bearings and rollers, gear boxes, turntables, turntable drives, sensors, frame parts, bag chutes, corn chutes, wheels, electrical plugs and receptacles.   

b.         Able to repair all issues related to motors, sprockets, chains, jaws, jaw guides, hole punches, heaters, knives, knife linkage, back seal bars, back seal irons, formers, turntables, turntable drives, carriages, thermocouples, wiring, pneumatics, electrical, gearboxes, breakers, disconnects, code daters, corn chutes, bag chutes.  Completed repairs to all packaging equipment to factory specifications.

c.         Able to time and align packaging machines to achieve desired outputs.  Able to set to factory specifications, back seals, jaw alignment, stroke, timing, temperatures, pressures, rollers, turntables, code dates, and speeds.

d.         Able to perform the above expectations in a timely manner with no defects.

3.         Pumps:  Troubleshoot and repair issues related to piping, couplings, motors, impellers, shafts, bearings, check valves, strainers, mechanical seals, packing seals, alignment, gauges and flow monitor.

           

            a.         Able to change bearings, shafts, seals, impellers, piping, gauges and couplings.

b.         Able to repair all issues related to pumps, motors, couplings, impellers, bearing, seals, shafts, gauges, check valves, strainers and filters.

            Completed repairs to all pumps to factory specifications.

c.         Able to check oil levels, grease bearings, adjust seals, adjust packing, align motor to pump, check bearing and housing temperature.

d.         Able to perform the above expectations in a timely manner with no defects.

4.         Gear reduction boxes:  Troubleshoot and repair issues related to motors, sprockets, V-belts, V-belt sheaves, spline or cog type belts, spline or cog type pulleys, chains, shafts, bearings, gears, electrical issues, rollers, oil levels, lubrication, vents, seals, shims, covers, bolting, keys and keyways.

a.         Able to change shafts, bearings, gears, keys, sprockets, sheaves, chains, V-belts, spline or cog type belts, spline or cog type pulleys, seals, shims and keys.

b.         Able to repair all issues related to motors, alignment, gearbox housings, bearings, seals, shafts, sprockets, chains, spline or cog type belts, spline or cog type pulleys, V-belts, V-belt sheaves, gears, keys, keyways, couplings, bolting and lubrication.

c.         Able to set gear backlash, bearing gaps and spacing.  Able to align gearbox to motor and set coupling gap.  Able to lubricate and grease by manufacturers specifications.

            d.         Able to perform the above expectations in a timely manner with no defects.

4.         HVAC Systems:  Troubleshoot and repairs issues related to fans, fan motors, filters, filter housings, ducting, vents, dampers, damper motors, damper linkages, thermostats, control circuits, timers, relays, fan housings, water tubes, evaporative coolers, evaporative cooler pumps, evaporative cooler pump filters, evaporative cooler pump piping, evaporative cooler pump valves, evaporative cooler pump chemicals, evaporative cooler water systems, breakers, unit housings and unit mountings.

a.         Able to change fans, fan motors, filters, filter housings, thermostats, control circuit boards, relays, timers, breakers, ducting, vents, dampers, damper motors, damper linkage, evaporative cooler water pumps, evaporative cooler water piping, evaporative cooler water valves and evaporative cooler pump filters.

b.         Able to repair all issues related to motors, fans, fan housings, filters, filter housings, control circuits, wiring, breakers, ducting, vents, dampers, damper motors, damper linkage and evaporative cooler water systems.

c.         Able to clean and change filters, PM A/C units, PM evaporative cooler units, adjust air flows, adjust vents, adjust ducting and return to factory specifications when required.

d.         Able to perform the above expectations in a timely manner with no defects.

5.         Boiler and Heat Exchanger:  Troubleshoot and repair issues related to the RO system, soft water system, city water system, city water booster pumps, pre-filters, flow regulators, surge tank, surge tank valves, surge tank piping, surge tank valves, boiler feed pumps, boiler feed pump piping, boiler feed pump valves, boiler water controls, boiler water level controls, sight glasses, safety valves, regulators, gas supply, gas regulators, gas modulating valves, gas shutoff valves, air emissions system, fans, blowers, flanges, hot oil pump, hot oil piping, hot oil pre heater, boiler controls, boiler electrical, heat exchanger controls, heat exchanger electrical, scrubber, scrubber fan, scrubber water system, scrubber valves, scrubber, flow gauges, pressure gauges, scrubber water pumps and motors, scrubber operation and scrubber electrical system.

a.         Able to change valves, pumps, filters, piping, regulators, floats and float controls, fans, motors, fuses, ducting, flow gauges, pressure gauges, control circuits, relays, starters, breakers RO filters, and RO membranes.

b.         Able to repair all issues related to valves, pumps, piping, filters, regulators, fans, motors, fuses, ducting, flow gauges, pressure gauges, control circuits, relays, starters, breakers, sight glasses, scrubber fan, scrubber pumps, scrubber tub, scrubber piping, boiler pumps, RO pump, RO membranes, RO piping, RO valves, RO gauges, RO pressure tank, RO holding tanks, RO chemical systems, timers, safety valves, internal tubes, inspection man ways, gaskets, city water pumps, city flow regulator, city water pre-filter, back-flow preventers, electrical, pneumatic and steam.

c.         Able to check belt tensions, align to factory specifications, set valves for proper flow, drain scrubber, clean scrubber, by pass soft water system, by-pass RO unit, perform visual inspection on boiler valves and piping, check electrical for issues, and blow down boiler.

d.         Able to perform the above expectations in a timely manner with no defects.

6.         Air handling and air compressor systems:  Troubleshoot and repair issues related to air compressors, air compressor filters, air compressor air dryers, air gauges, air regulators, piping, valves, tubing, solenoids, solenoid controls, air fittings, air cylinders, oilers, pre-filters, paper filters, carbon filters, ball valves, air nozzles, air hoses, air pressure tank, automatic water traps, automatic oil traps, air compressor controls, air compressor circuits, breakers and relays.

a.         Able to change valves, filters, piping, tubing, gauges, oilers, regulators, solenoids, fittings, cylinders, traps, hoses and nozzles.

b.         Able to repair all issues related to air compressors, air compressor filters, air compressor dryers, air gauges, air regulators, piping valves, solenoids, solenoid controls, air fittings, air cylinders, oilers, pre-filters, paper filters, carbon filters, ball valves, air nozzles, air hoses, air pressure tank, automatic water traps, automatic oil traps, air compressor controls, air compressor circuits, breakers and relays.

c.         Able to start and stop air compressors, clean air compressors, PM air compressors, change filters, start and stop air dryers, bleed down system, trace out system and perform work as required by manufacturer.

d.         Able to perform the above expectations in a timely manner with no defects.

7.         Sorters:  Troubleshoot and repair issues related to sorters, perforated plates, corn sizing equipment, Sortex sorters, Sortex feed systems, corn feed systems to sorters, piping, tubing, diverters, shaker trays, hoppers, level indicators, level sensors, conveyors, bucket elevators and motor and gearboxes.

a.         Able to change motors, gearboxes, piping, tubing diverters, level indicators, level sensors, buckets, chains, sprockets, shafts, lights, conveyor belting, rollers, bearings, motors, gearboxes, power supplies and electrical and electronic parts.

b.         Able to repair issues related to sorters and sorter feed systems, repair bearings, shafts, sprockets, chains, shaker trays, vacuum systems, corn feed systems, piping, tubing, level sensors, level indicators, diverters, power supplies, gearboxes, rollers, motors, buckets, electrical and electronic systems.

c.         Able to troubleshoot and diagnose issues to return Sortex's to service, make contact with vendor regarding issues or repairs. 

d.         Able to perform the above expectations in a timely manner with no defects.

8.         Processing Machinery:  Troubleshoot and repair issues related to processing machinery, cooker, peeler, soak tanks, de-stoner, heat exchanger, boiler, conveyors, gearboxes, motors, chains, sprockets, bearings, solenoids, solenoid valves, flights, shaker trays, cooling box, incline conveyors, fans, motors, pumps, piping, tubing, valves, level indicators, sensors, control panels, electrical and electronic issues.

a.         Able to change motors, gearboxes, piping, tubing, fittings, chains, flights, sprockets, bearings, shafts, pumps, valves, solenoid valves, fans, sensors, level indicators, conveyor belts, power supplies, electrical and electronic parts.

b.         Able to repairs issues related to processing equipment and seasoning equipment, repair bearings, shafts, sprockets, chains, shaker trays, pumps, conveyors, solenoids, solenoid valves, flights, fans, pumps, piping, tubing, indicators, sensors, control panels, electrical and electronic equipment.

c.         Able to troubleshoot and diagnose issues to return processing equipment into service, tension chains, electrical, electronic, water, steam, air and oil.

d.         Able to perform the above expectations in a timely manner with no defects.

B.  WELDING

1.         Arc welding:  Perform arc welding in a proficient manner to perform fabrication and/or repairs to plant and/or plant equipment.

           

a.         Able to set up and weld using stick welding techniques to perform repairs or modifications to plant and/or plant equipment, set up welding machine and select proper welding rod.

2.         Mig welding:  Perform Mig welding in a proficient manner to perform fabrication and/or repairs to plant and/or plant equipment.

a.         Able to set up and weld using Mig welding techniques to perform repairs or modifications to plant and/or plant equipment, set up welding machine and select proper wire.

3.         Tig welding:  Perform Tig welding in a proficient manner to perform fabrication and/or repairs to plant and/or plant equipment.

a.         Able to set up and weld using Tig welding techniques to perform repairs or modifications to plant and/or plant equipment, set up welding machine and select proper rod.

4.         Plasma cutter:  Use the plasma cutter in a proficient manner to perform fabrication and/or repairs to plant and/or plant equipment.

a.         Able to set up and use the plasma cutter to perform repairs or modifications to plant and/or plant equipment, clean tip, adjust air and power to complete the assigned task.

C.       FABRICATION

1.         Able to fabricate metal chain guards, delivery chutes, conveyor covers, rails, brackets, covers, stands, tables, baskets, piping, tubing, ducting, hoppers, funnels, conveyor tables, stairs and platforms.

Must be able to fabricate in a timely manner with no defects, must be able to fabricate from prints or reproduce from sample.

E.       ELECTRICAL

         

          1.         Must be able to troubleshoot primary electrical systems.

a.         Remove and replace motors, starters, relays, limit switches, heaters, thermocouples, controllers, fuses and primary control components.

D.      SHOP AND POWER TOOLS

1.         Able to use hand power tools and shop power tools in a safe and proficient manner during fabrication, repairs or modifications to plant and/or plant equipment.

2.         Saws, drills, drill press, band saw, lathe, mill, vise, hydraulic press, bench top grinder, hand held grinders, jig saw, Porta-band saw, die grinders, sheet metal break, shop vacuum, air guns, cement drill, skill saw and belt sander.

E.       MECHANICS WILL PERFORM OTHER DUTIES AS REQUIRED.
