About me
Carla brings almost ten years of experience working in the non-profit sector in New York. She has focused on working with start-up organizations with diverse thematic focus, helping them lay out solid institutional groundwork and supporting structural growth. In doing so, her work has proved instrumental to help build and develop organizations such as OneVoice, Columbia University’s Genocide Prevention Program (now Engaging Governments in Genocide Prevention), Qualitas of Life Foundation and Awake Youth Project. Simultaneously, Carla has devoted an important part of her time to learning and practicing different forms of meditation and introspective practices since she had her first experience meditating at age fifteen. From then on, throughout her courses, travels, and experiences - including a two-month stay at an ashram in India - she realized that this type of work was core to her personal growth and that it granted her tools and knowledge to help better guide her through life. She wandered how these practices could affect the lives of others in a wide-spread community setting closer to home and imagined a city where meditation practice could bring forth a calm resilience and present awareness for people to be kinder to themselves and others. It was then that she started to become aware of diverse teaching methodologies and techniques that were secular and structured in an ideal format to enable their dissemination to a wider audience, focusing primarily in overall well-being. It is from the desire to share these practices and experiences with as many individuals possible that she imagined a mobile meditation studio to meet these needs and Be Time was created. Carla holds a Masters of International Affairs from Columbia University.
