At 1,000 hospitals strong – and growing – everyone at Banfield shares a common goal: providing high‐quality preventive health care for each pet, and partnering with every pet owner to ensure they have the resources to care for pets at home.
At Banfield, we are defining the future of pet health and wellness. It’s about helping make better lives for pets, while extending the careers of the people who care for them. And, it’s a movement we are proud to be a part of.
Banfield, like our parent company, Mars Incorporated, shares special values called The Five Principles: Quality, Responsibility, Mutuality, Efficiency, and Freedom. We are looking for associates who understand that our principles are the foundation of our culture and approach to business.
Continuing education (CE)
Banfield provides CE at professional conferences including AVMA, VMX, and Fetch San Diego. In addition to our role at national veterinary conferences, our doctors also routinely speak at local professional meetings and events.
Our associates are able to take advantage of continuing education (CE) through a CE allowance as well as with practice paid memberships:
VMA memberships
NAVTA Practice-Paid Membership
VetFolio Practice-Paid Membership
Free VETgirl Subscription
Women’s Veterinary Leadership Development Initiative
We are supporters of the Women’s Veterinary Leadership Development Initiative, an organization that supports women in seeking and achieving leadership, policy and decision making positions within all areas of professional veterinary activity. Banfield’s Vice President of Veterinary Quality, Dr. Kimberly-Ann Therrien, sits on the Board of Directors and co-presents a continuing education series at CVC designed to support women and their aspirations.
For full and part time associates here are some of the benefits we offer:
Competitive pay
Health (medical, dental, vision, & prescription drug benefits)
Financial (401(k) Savings Plan & product discounts)
Insurance (basic group life insurance and option to purchase additional life insurance for spousal/domestic partner and children, short & long-term disability)
Assistance (LifeBalance Associate Assistance Program & student debt advisory,)
Pet (Optimum Wellness Plans for up to 3 pets)
Well-Being (Paid time off/holidays, continuing education allowance, on-site training & professional development)
Banfield’s goal is to provide associates with best-in-class benefits that are competitive within the veterinary profession. We take pride in offering full-time associates working 30 hours or more per week 100% practice-paid short-term disability benefits in order to protect associates’ financial wellbeing. The disability benefit pays 70% of earnings after a 7-day waiting period for five to seven weeks (depending on type of delivery) and starts on the first of the month following 60 days of employment. Mothers can take short-term disability for the birth of their child and also use accrued Paid Time Off (PTO) during leave if they choose.
For maternity leave, if the associate is eligible for the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), they may take up to 12 weeks of leave protecting their employment and benefits. In some cases, there is also state leave protection. If not eligible for FMLA/state leave, the practice offers Personal leave, which protects benefits for up to 12 weeks similar to FMLA.
