I enjoy the tempo of a song and the voice of the singer, that's how I decide whether or not I like it. If the lyrics speak to me as well, it makes it all the better!

Depends on what kind of music and mood I am in. Sometimes I want to listen to classical music because the instruments are relaxing. But other times I want to listen to an intellectually written song, like Flawless by Beyonce. Most of the time I pay more attention to the beat at first and slowly throughout the song I notice the lyrics.

I had to listen to a few songs to figure out my answer to this question. I love listening to songs in foreign languages that I don't understand so I'm usually drawn to the instruments and voice. However, all of my favorite songs are ones with lyrics I identify with; that's probably why my favorite songs are always changing. Do you think you can like a song without liking the lyrics? Or in the opposite, like the lyrics but not like the song itself?
