I'm working on a small research project pertaining to interaction with other cultures and the expansion of individual perspectives based on this. I would love to hear how travel or even just trying a different food or watching a live show based on a culture other than your own has shaped your worldviews.

How do you feel people convey their culture in a digitalized age? Do you think culture is growing increasingly more streamlined or merely taking on different nuances? How important do you think understanding different cultures is? What do you think the most effective way to understand another culture is, language, food, or something else entirely? Even in general, how has experiencing other cultures impacted your perspective and life in general?

I love these questions! I think in the modern day and age, society finds social media to be another voice. I think the word culture can have various defining aspects. We share our identity proudly whether it be gender, race, sexuality, or something physical like food. As a result, people also lose sight of what defines a culture. For example, I was watching a food show on Netflix called Ugly, Delicious where they followed different Italian-Americans through pizza making and they all had distinct visions of a true Italian pizza, but completely disagreed on their interpretations. In another episode, they visited Mexico and learned that most of the flavors and ingredients that were considered "Mexcian" were really made up of multitudinous cultures that had settled before the modern day. As a result, I think that in order to understand a culture, you have to understand heritage and history to truly idealize the struggle, the stories, and the experiences of the people. However, for each individual, their interpretation of their culture is unique in their own view as well.

Personally, living in California, you learn to appreciate the diversity and history of different cultures as you're submerged in such an opportunistic environment. To me, it's given me an open perspective where you realize that cultures are more alike than they are different; yet they do have unique attributes. In California, most people embrace the various cultures and you can see this through the food and fusion. Everywhere you look, there's a story to tell.

I'm not really sure if I truly answered your questions but I hope that you can see my perspective!
