Hi! I'm Michelle Breyer. I am the co-founder of NaturallyCurly, a website for curly hair that I began with my business partner and friend, Gretchen Heber.

Together we helped create the leading community and resource for people with curly hair. Frustrated by the lack of information on curly hair and the limited products available in the marketplace, we launched Naturally Curly in 1998 with the help of a 14-year-old web designer.

When Procter & Gamble called three years later to advertise to the NaturallyCurly.com® audience, I knew that I had indeed created a force in the industry, providing helpful information and unparalleled expertise for what was then considered a niche market.

Today, NaturallyCurly continues to champion ideas, entrepreneurs, brands, stylists, influencers, quality original content, invaluable insights and most of all – the everyday consumer – in a space seeing great growth and change.

Tomorrow, our present mission will remain: to empower, inspire, educate, and entertain the textured-hair consumer and to deliver strategic consulting services and insights, commerce opportunities and impactful content and marketing services to our brand and retail partners.

How we deliver on our mission will innovate and evolve, and the who will certainly scale from the 30 million consumers reached today, but the why – to inspire millions of textured hair women to stand tall, feel beautiful and be beautiful – will remain consistent as NaturallyCurly celebrates close to two decades of existence as the largest brand-agnostic authority on textured hair styles, care, health, and wellness.

We look forward to continuing to blaze a trail in our fast-approaching third decade of existence. We will see the fruits of our labors in more efficacious products in-market, more choices for the consumer, more hair stories in the mainstream, and more beautiful women, children (and men) celebrating and touting their natural beauty inside and out.

Now's your chance to ask me anything! Please write your questions in the comments section below and I'll answer the questions live on Wednesday, November 8th at 3:30pm ET.

What is your #1 piece of advice for someone with unruly hair?

What is your #1 piece of advice for someone with unruly hair?

First change the way you view the word "unruly". What you may consider "unruly" may actually be beautiful. If you still really think it is unruly, check out different styles on the NaturallyCurly website to find products and styles that can help you have more predictability in your regimen. Also, a good stylist can help you by giving you a cut and showing you styles that will work with your lifestyle!

@laurendimundo Never did I think it would have such a ripple affect on the entire beauty industry. We've seen so many entrepreneurs, stylists, brands and community members come out of NaturallyCurly that I never saw coming when starting this. The biggest surprise has been publishing "The Curl Revolution" out this year. I've always been a writer but never did I imagine writing a book on the NaturallyCurly journey, community members, and tips & tricks.

What's the best way for African-American women to find their natural curl pattern after years of straightening?

@Danica It may take awhile to figure out your curl pattern. You typically find out once you grow out your relaxer or doing a big chop. You have to experiment a lot with products and styles to find whats best for you. It may take some time to appreciate it, but its a beautiful intro to a You, you may have never known.

@namisha  The entire world ignored curly girls and I was tired of not seeing curly girls represented anywhere. It was a lifetime of frustration with having 60% of the world having textured hair and never seeing it. We knew when we started NaturallyCurly there was a need and felt we had to do it.

Is there a product you recommend to protect against humidity or when it rains?

I'm a huge fan of Curl Keeper products for frizz and Ouidad climate control. A lot of curlies stay away from hairspray, but a little hairspray can help your hair from humidity too. You do want to make sure you don't confuse damage for frizz. Some days I do just accept the frizz. Big hair is the new long hair ;)

@V. I do! He came to visit about a year ago (he's in his 30's now haha) but we were definitely his first clients! He's off traveling the world now as a musician but he is still a web designer.

@Tarn I think you want to inspire people to be creative to come up with ideas but make sure are vetting them for what the company needs. I am the queen of shiny things though and love staying open to new opportunities, growth, and change.
