Hi! I'm Todd Anthony Tyler. I'm a fashion photographer, creative director, TV Personality and entrepreneur. My career path can best be described as a journey of self-discovery.

After my formal eduction obtaining my BSc in Biology and Anthropology, I took the opportunity to explore the world as a professional model. Although, it was quite a different path from my initial academic studies, it was a unique life experience. I worked as a professional model in 26 different countries! Running my own business as a model. The freedom to travel all over the world was was amazing, but after a while I wanted something more.

After exploring a few career options including returning to a medical career and a short stint as a personal trainer, I finally found what I was looking for by pursuing my life long passion for photography.

Coupled with my creativity and artistic ability, I've enjoyed a successful fashion photography career for over 15 years now. I photograph across the globe from New York to Shanghai, and my work is seen in numerous top magazines including Vogue, Elle and Bazaar.

In addition to photography, I'm the resident photographer and Judge on Asia's Next Top Model and the TV show Fit for Fashion.

Professionally, my recent big move has been a fashion collaboration with VIDA, a San Francisco based startup that provides artists with a platform to easily transform their Art into Fashion by creating custom, made to order pieces. Together we recently launched TATxVIDA. Each garment and accessory featured in the collection is inspired by my fashion photography and 10% of every sale is donated to Happy Hearts Foundation - an organization dedicated to rebuilding communities in need, with a mission to provide every child access to a safe and earthquake resilient school.

Some fun facts about me are that I have completed 1 marathon, 2 half marathons, and 2 sprint triathlons; my favorite city is NYC; I've lived in over 30 countries; and, a childhood hero for me was Indiana Jones.

What does the travel and globetrotting do to your personal life? Do you find that relationships are difficult to maintain? When I traveled a lot, I found that meeting people was easier but maintaining those relationships was tough. How about you?

HI Gabriel ! thank you for sending in a question and participating in our chat today. Oh ! l like this question ! hmmmmmm.... I would say in my experience 'passion' - it is passion for what I do overall that keeps driving me forward and taking those steps every day to build an overall career - if passion dies then I believe your drive will die with it and you will not be able to sustain, build and be able to rise to the occasions when there are hurdles you may need to overcome - when you have the passion then mixing in the curiosity ( in part risk taking ) is where you can really make some strides in accomplishing short and long term goals as well as effectively problem solve to navigate to where you need to be to make those dreams come true - apologize for any grammar or spelling errors - autocorrects - as I am quickly typing away here : )

HI Michelle ! thank you for sending in a question and participating in our chat today. I prepared a few months for the marathon - I have to say I have been quite active athletically my whole life playing multiple sports and very much into track and field in my primary and secondary school days - I had also finished a couple of sprint triathlons before doing my marathon run ( which was in New Zealand which is also a bit different with some of those hills ! ) I had  prepared for the marathon run by doing a few 10 K's then a half marathon previously - I would say though I am more of a sprinter and short distance runner - the half marathon was a good run for me - the full marathon had me quite challenged at KM 30 to 35 - but that was really the best part of it and most applicable to everyday life as I kept going - really focusing one foot in front of the other and completing - leaving me also to wanting to run another marathon again in the future ! - apologize for any grammar or spelling errors - autocorrects - as I am quickly typing away here : )

HI Jennifer ! thank you for sending in a question and participating in our chat today. happy to say there are several - certainly doing Asia's NTM and Fit for Fashion TV shows are fairly well noted - the first time I had a fashion editorial published was very exciting as well as my first fashion catalog shoot. I have always had a strong desire to travel so the travel is a big thing I enjoy about my fashion career - recently I had a nice run of shooting in Shanghai, followed by Beijing, then Hong Kong - flew over to Iceland and took a redeye to Paris to shoot again - those kinds of shooting runs are always pretty exciting - apologize for any grammar or spelling errors - autocorrects - as I am quickly typing away here : )

I have been working slowly on a clothing line called TAT by Todd Anthony Tyler for some time - the idea has gone through several different configurations from being a private label to potentially sourcing and producing in Asia - however the logistics of doing all of this are rather difficult when you are combining with a schedule that includes fashion photo shoot prep and post and the TV work - VIDA really opened the doors for me dream of a TAT line to come true. Not only have they been very easy to work with they have also been super supportive in having my line develop.

HI Namisha ! thank you for sending in a question and participating in our chat today. My tertiary studies initially came from a line of thinking of going into medicine. There was a time early on when there was a thought about becoming a doctor and opening a practice with my sister who is a registered nurse, thus the pre-med years of biology. The reality was that since I was young I wanted to be a veterinarian - my mind was swung in the direction of family doctor on conversations that challenged the idea of spending all the those years study to become an animal doctor when perhaps your time, money and energy was better used becoming a general practitioner of human medicine and possibly specializing in the future - the truth of the matter was dedicating my life to medicine was not really in my heart and two years into my studies I decided to finish my biology degree and add on the minor in anthropology as I was very interest in the field of anthropology, especially cultural anthro - in my last year of studying Bio and Antho I went to study in Kenya for a semester - I was just finishing my 4th year and was going into my masters. After the three months in Kenya I could not really contain a strong, life long desire to explore and see the world. Modelling was a vehicle that allowed me to not only pay off the student loans but afford to live and travel - which in the end was over 25 different countries - so I finished my 4th year and set out on another adventure as a model -which is a career I did for about 10 years - apologize for any grammar or spelling errors - autocorrects - as I am quickly typing away here : )

HI Linda ! thank you for sending in a question and participating in our chat today. Yes I was paid to do Asia's NTM and the current show Fit for Fashion. Shooting of the show not only utilizes what talents you can bring to the table to produce a good show but it also takes a fair amount of time - generally at least 8 weeks where you are basically confined to set so cannot take on other projects. You are compensated for this financially by giving your time, talents and energy to the show - apologize for any grammar or spelling errors - autocorrects - as I am quickly typing away here : )

HI ! thank you for sending in a question and participating in our chat today. Yes certainly there are several challenging times where you feel like maybe a normal every day job is the easier and better way to go - definitely over all life can be directing you in that way - I quickly snap myself out of this line of thinking as soon as it creeps into my mind ! ha ha - the two key points to finding success in a creative field in my opinion ( besides potentially having at your hand favourable financial resources) are perseverance and focus- these two attributes or characteristic are definitely needed to maintain and not find yourself discourage and quitting which is of course game over at that point. I am very lucky to find my own source of inspiration and motivation from a fan base that has evolved from my photography work and TV work - social media has also been a plus with for me as the combination has me receiving daily messages of encouragement - there is no doubt the creative field as whole is difficult and even more difficult to make a full time thing - I have only made it to this point by weathering some pretty tough times that have luckily been balanced with some quite high times combined with the will of preserving and keeping focus   - apologize for any grammar or spelling errors - autocorrects - as I am quickly typing away here : )

HI Lauren ! thank you for sending in a question and participating in our chat today. Creativity is certainly at the forefront of what I do overall - I became initially a photographer then moving into fashion and advertisement photography and eventually TV work all driven by the desire to be creative - I see myself as an artist first in all that I do - so at times there are moments with pressure and schedule clashes to by spontaneously creative ! which I do welcome the challenge but the initial thought process can include a huge block - what I fall back on for creative blocks is that I do take time daily to keep myself updated with the latests in fashion innovation and image wise fashion editorials and current campaigns - I find by reviewing a stream of imagery each day puts me in a fairly ready made place with a mood board of sorts fresh on my mind. I also take inspiration from art, dance and every day people watching to add to the creative fire - however most people I am working with want to know what is new and fresh and current and the only way to avoid a complete block on providing creative ideas or problem solving to keep myself current - luckily that is a little easier now with newsletters and access to content so quickly digitally - apologize for any grammar or spelling errors as quickly typing away here : )

HI Rachel ! thank you for sending in a question and participating in our chat today. For Asia's NTM they were looking for the role of resident photographer and judge for sometime - from what I understand I was the last one for season 1 to be casted. luckily for me I possessed a few key elements that the producers where looking for - someone who could give feedback based on their model experience, someone who could give feedback as a professional fashion photographer and someone who felt comfortable with spontaneously talking in front of the camera. I was a little unsure at first if working on a  reality TV show was good for my career. I had thoughts that maybe reality TV would dilute my reputation as a fashion and advertisement photographer and change the course of my career in not a very favourable way - however I am happy to say it has turned out to be quite the opposite and when I received the contract for the show I was feeling very elated ! - apologize for any grammar or spelling errors - autocorrects - as I am quickly typing away here : )

HI Bethany  ! thank you for sending in a question and participating in our chat today. I greatly enjoy working on TV ! the process of shooting a reality TV show can be pretty tiring with a tight shooting schedule that can go on for 8 weeks or more but regardless of the long days I find myself really into shooting the show. Part of the reason maybe that I enjoy having a partial behind the scenes role as well with some of the casting and show creative decisions - one thing I would say that I personally find interesting is that shooting the fashion challenges on either Asia'sNTM or Fit for Fashion is a much different experience then shooting a regular fashion editorial, catalog or advertisement shoot. I only have a few minutes to get the best shot from generally not highly experienced models and also the turn around time for imagery is super short - the excitement of the shooting TV work crosses over to my over all photography work. I find great satisfaction in shooting the TV shows - apologize for any grammar or spelling errors - autocorrects - as I am quickly typing away here : )
