Hi! I'm Alisyn Camerota. I'm a broadcast journalist and co-anchor of CNN's New Day.
Before joining CNN, I was a crime reporter for five years at the fugitive finding show America’s Most Wanted and went on to work to become a national correspondent at the NBC network magazine show Real Life. I worked for many years at FOX News Channel as a national correspondent and anchor. I've also worked as a reporter at several local stations, including WHDH in Boston, WLNE in Providence, and WTTG in Washington, D.C.
I'm also an author and am about to release my debut novel called Amanda Wakes Up. The humorous book is about a bootstrapping young reporter who lands a plum job at a big-time cable news station, and finds her ambitions and her love life turned upside down. Samantha Bee called it a “A hilarious, eye-opening glimpse into the TV-news trenches” and Lauren Weisberger praised the main character for being “my kind of girl.”
Some fun facts about me are that I serve on the board of Resolve, the National Infertility Association and the Dean’s Advisory Board of American University’s School of Communication. I'm not a morning person. I'm at my best at 9pm. I love driving and I'm the worst backseat driver ever. I eat dark chocolate almost every day -- and pizza several times a week (not because I want to necessarily, it's just easy). I figured out I wanted to be a TV reporter at 15 years old and never changed my mind. I get embarrassingly star struck when I see a celebrity. Russell Brand has a weird power over me if we're in the same room. My favorite music is ska. I love Sublime, Toots and the Maytals, the Specials, the English Beat, Desmond Dekker...I could go on. My dream career would have been to be a rock star and I was only prevented by lack of singing and musical talent.
Now's your chance to ask me anything! Please write your questions in the comments section below and I'll answer the questions live on Tuesday, July 25th at 2pm ET.
