Hi - I'm Brian Balthazar. I'm the Vice President of Programming and Development for Scripps Networks Interactive’s brands HGTV, DIY Network and Great American Country. Among the shows I've developed and ushered on to the airwaves:  Flip or Flop, Love it Or List It, and House Hunters. I'm also a TV personality who's a frequent guest on Today and The Wendy Williams Show, among other outlets, commenting on all aspects of pop culture. And I've done all kinds of other things along the way: I helped launch the now-famous fourth hour of the Today Show with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. I'm a former co-executive producer of The View. And I've launched three websites, including PopGoesTheWeek.

Some fun facts about me: I was my college mascot, the Syracuse Orange. I touched Donald Trump's hair back in 2003. I flip and renovate homes in my 'spare' time. I ate Thanksgiving and Passover dinner at Joan Rivers' house. I'm a huge dog lover. And I traveled the world with Tom cruise for a week. For real. (I did it for work but it was truly weird)

Now's your chance to ask me anything! Please write your questions in the comments section below and I'll answer the questions live on Friday, September 23rd at Noon ET.

It's part of Mogul's new interactive Q &A sessions, Ask A Mogul Anything.

Come on and ask me *anything* ... about how to launch a TV show... the latest in pop culture (Brangelina, anyone?) ... my week with Tom Cruise ... my 'brush' with Donald Trump's hair  ... and how to build a cross-over career that allows you to do everything you love *and* make a living while doing it!

Wow! I'm not sure i'm an expert on that, but I would say know that no relationship is perfect, and you have compromise sometimes. And remember that if your friend or co-worker keeps bragging about how perfect their relationship is, they're either lying or potentially pooling themselves, because NO relationship is perfect. (I'm sometimes more suspicious of people who always say everything is perfect!) Just make sure that whomever you date treats you with respect and kindness, and you do the same in return. The rest is all about following your heart!

It's quite a relevant question as we see MacGyver on the air again, and now a green light for a Magnum PI Sequel! I would love a revisit of a detective show. Literally ANY detective show that is light and fun with campiness to it. From Charlie's Angels to Hart to Hart (and there is some talk of that coming back!) and even VIP! Yes, I said it, VIP with Pamela Anderson. I loved that show.

Wear more sunscreen! And don't be afraid to say out loud what you want to do, if you don't believe it enough to to say it yourself how else will people help you if they don't know either? I think if you want something badly enough you just keep going. OR.... its okay to realize that maybe you want to change paths and thats okay too! I answer this one at length on the video so I hope you'll watch it! I can totally relate to where you're coming from!

Hi Brian, you are really cool. What's your advice to people like me still exploring career that could be interested in journalism, especially humorous journalism? You are really funny so it'd be neat to hear what your training was and your advice on how to follow in your footsteps.

Hey there Lucy! What an exciting time for you! I'm answering this one fairly in depth on the video interview, but I wanted to come back and elaborate a little. I think you should explore and dive into both! Hone your comedy - if you're in a city or town with an improv group or comedy class, take one! with pracitice you can insert humor into your stories as a journalist without compromising your need to find the facts and do accurate reporting. (You'll know when it's appropriate to make jokes and when it's not, although if you ever have doubt about where a joke is appropriate, don't do it. Pursuing lifestyle and feature stories makes it a lot easier to incorporate humor than a 'hard news' story. I think taking comedy classes is a great way to find a comfort level with humor, and then as you get to know yourself and hone your work, you'll figure out how to make it part of your work identity as a whole.

I think you can always keep training and practicing, the challenge is to get to a place where you let go of all the training in your head and just start to feel a natural vibe for what you're doing. It's a lot like dancing! You learn the choreography and the technique, but sometimes you just let go and let the music take you. You still have the skills developed, and they help inform what you do when you start to freestyle!

I don't get star struck as much anymore. I do have profound respect and love for a few folks I have had the opportunity to work with - Kathie Lee Gifford, the late Joan Rivers, and Charo! They have proven to be great friendships that I cherish and am truly grateful for!

Hey there Morgansmom! In all honesty, it was truly bizarre. I was travelling with him and his 'people' as he released the film "War of the Worlds" - and in just nine days we went from Tokyo, to Berlin, to Paris, to Marseilles, to London. It was the same time that Tom proposed to Katie Holmes in paris. I was there when he announced it to the world in the Paris train station.... He was always 'on.' I couldn't help but think that Tom is a guy who really knows how to play the role of Tom Cruise, movie star, but not sure if he really knows how to just be himself. I wrote all about every odd moment in an essay entitled "CRUISE CONTROL: How Five Days Following Tom Cruise Left Me Speechless And Disillusioned" http://popgoestheweek.com/2012/09/cruise-control-five-days-following-tom-cruise-left-speechless-disillusioned/ I hope you'll check it out and see what you think!

Hi Brian - Such an honor to have you joining us for Ask A Mogul Anything. What I love about you is that you've done so much in your life from a career perspective - and so much that most people would think just couldn't be done (i.e. on-air personality *and* a network executive; program developer *and* and home-fixer-upper). What's your advice to others who want to do a couple of wildly different thing with their lives and careers, who maybe are being told 'No, you have to choose - You can do only do *this* or *that* and you can't do both and be considered a success?'
