Strasbourg is a small, french city located in Alsace almost in the heart of Europe. It actually is considered to be the heart of Europe since it is the official seat of the European Parliament and thus it is the once-a-month host of European Parliament's plenary session. With more than 5.000 visitors each month, the city has attained a multinational character and a cosmopolitan attitude without though denying the alsacian heritage and the -so much beloved- French culture. Besides the European Union's premises, the city is also the home of the Council of Europe, a totally separated organization existing and functioning in Strasbourg from the 1940s as a 'closure' agreement between France and Germany during the WWII. It is also the famous capital of Christmas! Yeap! The city celebrates Xmas with enormous decorations and Christmas markets around and millions of tourists visit during this particular period.
For me though Strasbourg is something else. It is a small city, in the french territory that become my home since last year. It was the first european city that offered me a job and skills necessary for the global market. It was the small city that provided me my very first apartment, an amazing house so tiny that could not fit my thoughts but it was enough to warm my heart. It was the city that made me realize what kind of women i wanted to be. I threw away whatever i had keeping me behind and did a rebout of myself. My very own little self who i found a bit afraid in that small and beautiful city. Strasbourg was for me the first step to an adventure that is still going on. Was it the city or just me wanting to escape? I will never find out but still i feel so grateful for having this experience in my life.
