There are roughly 160 million women and counting living in the nation you preside over today. And while you may not empathize with 159,999,999 of these strong women, you should stop and reconsider one woman; your daughter, Ivanka.
As you prepare to strip away the funding for women’s basic healthcare needs, remember that any one of these women could have been your daughter Ivanka in another reality. As you impede the progress we have made in helping sexual assault victims regain their independence, ask yourself: would you do the same if Ivanka had been sexually assaulted?
How can you look your daughter in the eyes knowing full well that you are taking away her reproductive rights, access to healthcare, and resources as a potential sexual assault victim, diminishing her value in society along with the other 159 million women living in your country? Because you can’t.
That, Mr. Trump, is why you need to #ReadMyLips, and #ReadOurLips.
