When I think of 2016, I think of the culmination of a year in which America’s fears blindly, loudly, and aggressively betrayed our country's true morals. Today, the White House has failed to embrace the rights and freedoms of this diverse nation, including the rights of women.
The leaking of the Access Hollywood tapes disgusted me. How could someone running for the highest office of our nation so freely and unabashedly brag about sexual assault? How could someone repeatedly accused of non-consensual sexual harassment -- with a laundry list of no less than 15 allegations with its own Wikipedia page -- be representative of anything close to presidential?
Mr. President, 'locker room talk' is no excuse.
How will I explain to my future daughter that I lived in an America where women’s rights were pushed to the side for the purpose of fueling one man’s ego? How can I defend my president when he can’t even defend me, my rights as a woman, and my livelihood?
Mr. President, #ReadMyLips.
