Pussy Power: A Guide to a Healthy Vagina

A vagina is its own biological system. For the most part, vaginas are self-cleaning and self-regulating. Here are some tips to keep your pussy in sync:

  • Try to always wear 100% cotton underwear. It's also good to sleep commando every now and then. Your vagina needs to breathe.
  • Practice safe sex. Using a condom not only protects from STI's and pregnancy, it prevents unwanted bacterial infections.
  • Peeing after sex can help clear the urethra and prevent urinary tract infections.
  • Use lube!
  • Refrain from douching or using scented soap.
  • Maintain good hygiene. Wipe from front to back and change your tampons regularly.
  • Make sure to go to the gyno annually. Getting tested is good for your health!
  • Keep a healthy diet. Eating food with live cultures and hydrating helps maintain bodily systems. You can take a daily probiotic - or eat foods such as yogurt, kombucha, or miso. Cranberry juices cleanses the UT.
  • Don't wear pantiliners for discharge! This creates a warm moist environment for bad bacteria.

Most information obtained through Killer and a Sweet Thing, a site dedicated to educating young adults on all sorts of topics, especially sex. You can download their Health Vagina Guide here. They also have a forum for talking about all things sex called Birds & Bees.
