Five perfect places to tie the knot for a gay couple

Weddings are supposedly unions of matches made in heaven, so couples always dream about tying the knot in serene and heavenly surroundings. Who says gay weddings are any different? In fact, gay couples are more conscious and idealistic about making a life-long commitment, as most often, overcoming the obstacles would have been a tremendous effort! Irrespective of whether you are a heterosexual couple or a gay couple, we all believe in that once-in-a-lifetime love and wedding that commemorates that great feeling! Here are some idyllic gay-friendly wedding venues that set the perfect stage for a couple to exchange vows.

  • Hawaii

A popular wedding destination for all love birds – who wouldn’t want to get married beside the sea on a white sandy beach kissed by turquoise blue waters. You needn’t go anywhere to start the honeymoon too! With waterfall pools, beachside hammocks and cottages all nearby. Sip on a celebratory tropical cocktail, ride horses on the beach and indulge in the Aloha spirit. Also check out O'ahuand Maui which are the gay hubs of the island.

  • Cape Town, South Africa

A melting pot of cultures, cuisines and landscapes, Cape Town is a beautiful city and very friendly towards gay tourists and travellers. The second largest city of South Africa, you can’t pick a more picturesque place to get married. An excellent spot to say your vows might be on top of the Table Mountains which offer roving views of the city and the vast sea. Stay on for a jungle safari honeymoon and do a spot of shark-cage diving to add some adventure to your life as newlyweds.

  • Buenos Aires, Argentina

Choose to have your wedding in Latin America’s gay capital and later experience the rich culture and heritage of Argentina. Buenos Aires is not just filled with football crazy fans but has an intense dance and drama history to it. Check out the tango performers and take some lessons so the two of you have some steps to take back and show off in front of your friends. Do check out the many gay-friendly cafes in the neighbourhood of San Telmo and Palermo Viejo.

  • Sydney, Australia

One of the gay travelfriendly countries in the world, you have the option of getting married out on a ship or a gay-friendly charter cruise on Sydney Harbour. Charter a vessel of your own and organise a private gay wedding and reception on Sydney Harbour amongst family and friends and celebrate the joyous occasion in style. There is lots to see and do around Sydney with many natural and manmade attractions dotting the harbour foreshore – perfect settings for post-wedding photo shoots. So keep an eye on Sydney if getting married on a boat or a gay-friendly cruise is your fancy!

  • Iceland

Get married in the same country where the Prime Minister is openly a lesbian and married her partner, after same-sex marriage was legalised in 2010. Iceland is one of the best countries for gay travel and a dream place for many gay couples to get married. Pick your choice of getting married in the lap of Mother Nature near a thundering waterfall or in a quaint old church. So pack your bags and vows and rush off to Iceland and have the wedding you always dreamed of.
