Yesterday CNN severed ties with acting Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile. In the most recent data dump of leaked emails, more revelations came to light about her behavior at CNN.
Lauren Pratapas, network spokeswoman said, “We are completely uncomfortable with what we have learned about her interactions with the Clinton campaign while she was a CNN contributor.”
The newly published WikiLeaks emails showed that Brazile had, in fact, tipped the Clinton Camp off to CNN-sponsored debate questions on more than one occasion.
An email sent in March, days before a CNN-sponsored sponsored debate in Flint, Michigan, had this subject line: One of the questions directed to HRC tomorrow is from a woman with a rash.
Brazile wrote in that email, “Her family has lead poison and she will ask what, if anything, will Hillary do as president to help the ppl of Flint,” to Mr. Podesta, the Clinton campaign chairman, and Jennifer Palmieri, the campaign’s communications director.
At the debate the next night, two women asked such questions of Mrs. Clinton.
Brazile also wrote that she was getting questions in advance from Roland Martin, another CNN contributor and pundit. “I’ll send a few more.” she wrote in another email.
Ms. Brazile’s breach of ethics undermines any perceived impartiality that we are due from our media and when the Clinton campaign accepted that information, it once again underscored the blatant corruption within our political system.
After the news broke yesterday, Brazille Tweeted: “When they go low, we go high.”
Later in the day, she tweeted:
And, it was a just couple of weeks ago when she told Megyn Kelly in an interview that “I am not going to try to validate falsified information.”
The entire exchange over her actions was difficult to watch. If you’ve ever studied deceptive behavior and lies, you can spot the times when Ms. Brazile was not being forthright.
Here’s the Issue
You cannot justify bad behavior with other bad behavior. Wrong is wrong.
The Russians hacking into our email system is an action that our government needs to address promptly. We should not be in a position where we allow a foreign government to have access to our emails or to try to influence our election process.
That’s wrong - and illegal.
But to sweep your bad behavior under the rug and use that as an excuse is also wrong – and unethical.
Ms. Brazile, when you gave the Clinton camp debate questions, you cheated Bernie Sanders. You cheated the American people.
Are we supposed to forget what we’ve read or pretend we didn’t see it?
I won’t do that because that ignores the root cause of the evils that goes on in our so-called democracy.
We teach our children to own up to their mistakes and now is the time that you must stop your bad behavior and own up to your mistakes.
The biggest losers in this election nightmare of 2016: The American People. I write this not as a Republican and not as a Democrat but rather as an American citizen who demands change. We need change, swift change within the next four years so that we never have to undergo another election season like this again.
Editor’s note: Before anyone makes an assumption that I am pro-Trump, I’m not. I am equally as critical of Donald Trump as seen in my article here: Political Hypocrisy.
