Kimmi Vaneet Kaur Sethi is a young civil servant working with the Government of Punjab in India. She is responsible for the implementation of Indian Government's Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS), a scheme aiming to provide subsidized food grains to the poor. It is the world's largest such programme aiming to reach 800 million people, or two-thirds of India's population for the purpose of achieving UN SDG 2 of ending hunger and ensuring food security. In addition, she is a gold-medalist in Psychology and has received Roll of Honor from one of India's leading university and has wide experience in counselling therapies. A UGC Fellowship holder, she is currently a PhD Research Scholar researching on mental health among abused women - sexually and physically assaulted. Her work is about Post Traumatic Growth, a relatively new area in Positive Psychology that studies the positive changes in the aftermath of trauma helping the traumatized women to be empowered. She has even worked on a National Sponsored Project on Drugs and Sexual Violence. Through her research work, she endeavors to develop a strategy to help sexually and physically abused women to become resilient and reintegrate in the society. Her research work has been widely acknowledged in national and international conferences. She has voiced her views with associations such as Asian Association of Applied Psychology, Indian Science Congress and Indian Association of Health, Research and Welfare. Furthermore, she has numerous national and international publications to her credit. It includes International Journal of Human Rights, Social Sciences, Positive Psychology and many more. Also, she was the Indian Youth Delegate at 2016 UN Youth Assembly held at United Nations Headquarters, New York, USA. It is a unique platform which fosters dialogue and generates partnerships between exceptional youth, UN high officials and staff, the private sector, and civil society. A strong independent Indian woman, she has used her educational achievements to reach many other women and empower them. She believes that education has the power to transform the society and liberate a woman, therefore, she continues to ensure education of girls in varied ways. Despite knowing two Indian languages - Hindi and Punjabi, she is well-versed with English, French and Mandarin which facilitated her to communicate and spread her voice to many. In the past, she has organised a National Level Conference on Violence, Peace and Conflict Resolution and blood donation camps and fund raising campaigns for orphans, blinds, widows and neglected sections through her art work.
